Is Sour Candy really single worthy?

I mean, on paper it probably makes the most sense. Europe will eat this sound up, the length makes it streaming friendly, it's screaming to be memed and become a Tik Tok trend, the YouTube views would be huge, it already has great streams and sales to build off of, etc. The only barrier is that having part of it in Korean might make radio uneasy to play the song. It's not my fav song off the album, but it makes sense.

Probably just because of the Blackpink feature which will be cool for a video and exciting to see another feature for Gaga. Im not a fan of the song however and sometimes skip it.

It's too late for another single. At least if you want it to do well on the charts. A lot of people already streamed the entire album and for those people it doesn't sound new anymore. So releasing another song from that album would be pointless I think. 911 video was nice, but it didn't stand a chance to be a succesful single, at least not anymore then. Not that I don't want a new video tho. I hope next time she comes with a new album there will be 3 singles before the release.

Not going to lie, the biggest reason I want it to be a single is because I know it'll be a hit to some degree and Gaga could always do with more hits, particularly now she's getting older and those opportunities are going to become scarce very soon. This song was, along with ROM, engineered to be the big smash from the album. The song that will inevitably become a single at some point, the song that will inevitably smash, the song that will be released if the album's flopping or starts to fall out of public consciousness. And as Blackpink are Interscope artists too, there's a lot riding on this to have it be the song that pushes them into the international stratosphere of success like what happened for BTS. I'm sure, after the success of BTS's singles that this tested the waters for them and they'll now go full steam ahead with it eventually but everything about it - the music video, the timing of release, the promotion - has to be right. I hope that's the reason why it's taking so long to become a single. As opposed to it not happening at all.

Does it deserve a video and performances? Yes. 

But singles don't exist in the same way they existed back in 2011 - for the song to gain traction after being launched as a B side to ROM back in May, it'd need re launching as a remix or extended version for curators to put it on there. 

So the answer is yes - but for it to be successful and make a dent, it needs the full works, not what 911 got.

It is a fun song and a video would be amazing. I think it’s cute. Is it top tier Gaga? No, but it’s definitely a better single choice than some of her other  singles.
