Gaga Advent Calendar 2020

I really owe all of you an apology about the advent. This would have been the 11th year straight.

Excuses don't explain, and explanations don't excuse, but you guys do deserve a reason.

I caught Covid on 11-23, and I was out sick for a while. I'm also a postal worker in real life, and I've been working late, we've been absolutely slammed with mail from the pandemic and the Christmas rush. So I did start the preliminaries, and I did purchase a bunch of stuff with Sara to use for the advent, but the time just seems to have slipped away. I let the people down here, I know that. I also got distracted with the Sofi Tukker interview, I had planned to release all the remixes in HQ as well, I had some donated and purchased the rest.

Recently, I've been volunteering on a Mixcloud for Paul as well in my free time, I'm helping curate his mixtape collection on Mixcloud and putting up each weeks tape that he puts out on Sirius. It's great experience and a lot of fun, but it ended up distracting me from the advent. And I feel bad about that. 

On top of all this, in 7 days from now, the facebook game Farmville is going to be shut down, and the servers disconnected. I'm desperately trying to back up in HD all the Gaga flash images from the old Gagaville farm. I've gotten tantalizingly close, and some are in excellent quality. others are in bad shape or deleted permanently. I had wanted to use those HD images as part of the advent as well. 

I don't know how to run Python to archive it, so I've been talking with Flash developers on FlashPoint's discord about the complex processes to do this. Volunteers on Reddit and FB Messenger have been helping me too, with varied degrees of failure and success. With the lack of ability on my end to run Python script, I've resorted to screenrecording up close images of the Gaga assets with the intention of later isolating the images in an image editor. Crude, but necessary as time is literally running out on flash, it will die on 12-31-2020.

Wow. Those are a lot of excuses. And a lot of hot air to say "I'm sorry, guys."

 

So where do we stand?

I have an advent calendar that was made for me by one of the users here, I commissioned a lovely one.

What I may end up doing --- hopefully people won't be too pissed off about not having it on corresponding days --- is just to post it anyway, in order, the way I originally planned -- and it will just stretch into January.

Forces other than me, and beyond my knowledge or scope -- managed to leak an unreleased song this month. That in itself is a fantastic Christmassy present.

That was super awesome. I didnt have any unreleased stuff as part of the advent this year.

So, if you can all bear with me, I do plan to do it, just belatedly. Bear with me
