John Mulaney has checked into rehab for cocaine and alcohol abuse.

According to Page Six and PEOPLE, the 38-year-old comedian entered a facility in Pennsylvania this past weekend.

Mulaney has long been open about his history with substance abuse. In an interview with Esquire last year, he said he began drinking and experimenting with drugs at age 13. He first became sober at the age of 23.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month, Mulaney admitted that the quarantine had negatively impacted his mental well-being, and he sought to find structure by going to work for his friend Seth Meyers.

Oh no. :( I love John. I hope he can overcome this and get clean and sober again. It must be so tough to enter rehab right before the holidays and not be with family.

This year has been particularly hard for people dealing with sobriety and addiction issues. The holiday season is always rough too.

I wish him well.

This is really sad... wishing him well. Once we get through this pandemic, I hope we'll be strong enough to face the mental health crisis that's gonna hit us.

Just a reminder: Covid isn't the only thing that kills. Take care and be kind to yourselves.

I've struggled with alcohol addiction in the past and the pandemic has certainly been a real test. I am not completely "sober" but I am miles better than I once was.  It's one of the reasons I decided to move home and be closer to my family so I'd have a tighter support network. I wish John the best :kara:

Oh no, this is so surprising to hear. :( Hope he comes out on the other side feeling happier and healthier.

Poor John. He's always given me the impression that he's a generally good person. I hope he gets better soon.

it's often really nice people and really shy and self conscious people that struggle with this, sadly :(

Most of my alcohol abuse happens in social settings, so for me, staying at home has really sobered me up this year.

I hope he gets the help he needs, he seems like a genuine, down to earth person.

Ah man . It has been a rough year, lots of substance abuse issues coming to rise.  I hope he gets help and is able to stay clean.

Music is a higher revelation than philosophy.
