Well at least english pronouns are not that many: I/me/he him/she her/you/they them

Portuguese for example: eu, mim, comigo/ tu, contigo/ vós, convosco/ ele, eles, ela, elas, consigo/ nós, conosco/ você

What is it about straight white dudes that makes them think everyone wants to hear their opinion on all matters at all times?

The same reason you decided to voice this opinion?:bear:

But it hasn't been used in the 21st century, the century we live in. Also Ive never heard of people in the past demanding to be called "they" or talk about nonbinary. If so, it wouldve started becoming a third gender way back then

I made a mistake in my reply, I meant gender neutral pronouns (and attempts at using them) have been happening since the 18th century, so there is nothing new about that.

The singular they has been in use way before that (first use dates back to 1375 actually) and it's been recently used much more frequently and widely.

And just because people in the past never talked about nonbinary (which isn't true anyway because this identity has been theorized and discussed since the early 1990s (to my knowledge) aka at least 30 years ago), doesn't make it any less valid or deserving of respect. And when I say theorized I mean talked about formally. That doesn't deny the fact that people have certainly identified as such but lacked the vocabulary and/or the awareness and/or the courage and/or the ability to come out as NB.

What are you talking about? People in the 21st century use it all the time. It's so ingrained that people don't even realize they use it. For example: "So I talked to my doctor about my depressions" "And what did they say?"

JINNOCIDE

Everytime I enter in a thread like this I see the same people that scream GAY RIGHTS being problematic and "having a hard time" accepting things that come with trans/non-binary topic. :billie:

I swear, when the topic of discussion isn't the G in LGBTQIA+ people come with the same arguments straight people use to deny us :saladga: it truly shows to me we as a community have no empathy for the others, and it's very sad.

Well, I kinda agree, but in a different way. And before y'all drag me, hear me out (pls :selena: ). I hate how well-known the pronouns must be for us. If you mispronounce someone bc you legitimately forgot and/or are confused, they act as we were witches and should be burned alive :saladga: . Humankind only knew 2 pronouns for thousands of years. Why can't we as a society get used to having more than these, before we basically get dragged to the pits of hell? :wtfga:

And that is in no way an insult to any trans or non-binary person - you and your pronouns are just as valid as binary people. But please don't take it personally if I (or we) mispronounce you. It's not an act of disrespect  .

Nobody is getting attacked for an honest mistake that they quickly correct. I see a lot of well-meaning people accidentally being anti-trans because they have this anxiety of being cancelled. But truly, if you are talking with someone and use the wrong pronoun, just correct yourself and quickly apologize and move on. It will be fine.

I am French so sorry if my English / American is not perfect. I came out at 13 and I am an active member of the shelter that helps LGBTQ + people abandoned by their families

I agree on this point with Elon, I can't always understand this mess of non-pronouns

I think we're getting off the topic a bit and our community is radicalizing for a lot of bullshit This debate is stupid.

The community becomes dogmatic, so no need to spit on religions, political parties, stop the drama and start the music.

so you're telling me you made an account 13 minutes ago just to spew transphobic bullshit? you're that lifeless?

No darling, Just when my community starts to go wild I think I have to say something This is the first time, I know this forum for years and I never decided to subscribe

But this is too much, I do not know Elon, not his policy, I have heard some brives of an affiliation with Trump, I am not American so I would not pass judgment on it

I just understand that it's hard to understand this mess of pronouns

Everything is transphobic these days

But explain to me why not understanding is transphobic? I don't understand this mess of non-pronouns

Does that make me a monster cause I don't know? Who educated you? Who are you to throw stones at me? while I don't understand

I don't wan't to see my community becomes dogmatic, I'm ready to learn and understand. Maybe you're not opened as all these pronouns
