If we check the recent ratings, the GP has already stopped carring, so they'd be pretty much left with nothing if that happened. I definitely believe there is also a racial element at play too - they'd probably never pull any ultimatums with Adele or Taylor Swift. Also I'm really surprised the Blue Ribbon Panel didn't fight to get Fiona Apple into AOTY because that type of situation is what the panel is for (getting the less popular, but critically acclaimed albums in there).
