There are some people with aspergers for example who would be able to cope with it and there are people on the spectrum who have made it as an actor. I don't get it. When it comes to disability. Should a blind roll only go to people who wear glasses instead of a person that has 20/20. The autism spectrum is literally that diverse. Fresco 1,688
Rain Man is a great movie about an autistic savant. It won 4 academy awards, including 1 for Dustin Hoffman as best actor in a leading role. He acted the part of autistic savant. He is not autistic. He is an actor. It's his job to play a character with scripted dialogue, on carefully prepared sets, and in costume. Movies are not to be mistaken for reality tv. Next thing you know, serial killers are going to be angry that they don't get cast to play themselves in crime dramas.

ItWasntLaauv 6,392
She maybe just should’ve not responded to anything tbh. Everyone’s always gonna have an opinion about anything no matter what. It’s similar vibes to people attacking people for not casting an actual gay person to play a gay person. Like I understand it, but it’s also like... really?

The fact that you are comparing being autistic to being a serial killer is nuts. is about opportunity, gay actors, actors or color , actors with disabilities have been marginalized for years. That was a rude personal attack. Acting is a job with specific requirements pertaining to each role. None of us has seen any audition tapes, so who is to say who performed the character more convincingly. I was going to compare it to superman, but no-one can actually fire lazers from their eyes and fly because that is special effects. Also, I should point out that I was not making the comparison between autism and serial killers. That was not intended. I was comparing the qualifications for an acting job, comparing between this movie and crime dramas, in terms of who would be most qualified to act in a crime drama.
