decent cast. with cartoons it's a bad move to just bring the same animation to the big screen, otherwise your just getting an hour and a half long episode. That's why it's always a risk but I can see this doing alright

The film incorporated the knowledge that there were 2 separate universes and an evil cartoon left toon town...this seems to be just plain silly where a young woman is walking up to a cartoon mouse...

A lot of these types of films end up looking cringy...except Roger rabbit as the exception due to its execution

Cartoons and animation are the same thing. And Tom and Jerry aren’t turning live action, they’re still animated. 

And live-action/animation hybrids can be great, see Mary Poppins or Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, even Looney Tunes: Back in Action was fun. 

I think the mixture of classic cartoon violence with live action sets and props goes together REALLY well here.
