Eido 3,670
OK, so a few months ago the original creators/writers of ATLA and TLOK decided to quit the live action series Netflix offered them to produce, because (surprise !) Netflix didn't want to respect their engagements (apparently they wanted to change the skin color of some of the characters to be more diverse as well as sexual orientations, and they wanted the main characters to be older to include s*x and touch a wider demographic). Well, today, Netflix France made a list on Twitter with all their original shows still under production and ATLA is not part of it. But honestly I think, this is for the best. RAMROD 108,827
Yeah, it is for the best. I don't want it to be ruined for 2nd time.
REALITY 76,070
It better be cancelled Like, how are you gonna have creative differences with the creators??? 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
Guest
NOOO!! I was so hyped! But honestly, if they are not going to trust Bryan and Michael on their vision, they might as well stop producing the show.

I mean... Netflix knew what was ATLA about, the fact that they wanted to change their age and add s*x makes me crazy Imagine Katara sleeping with Zuko and then there is a whole drama about that with Aang. I would quit too

JazzGa 14,619
Good for the writers for sticking to their vision. Strong character-driven storylines and the way the characters change and grow over time is what makes this series so charming and memorable. Cheap, easy tricks like queerbaiting, brownwashing, and adding sex scenes are bound to be shortcuts that water down the writing. Everywhere Aang goes, he teaches the people lessons about having fun, bridging masculinity and femininity, not worrying about unimportant "grownup stuff" like old traditions, etc. If they made him a hornii 19 year old bisexual/straight guy his character would fundamentally not be the same My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <

Knife 6,855
Good. Without the creators of the original this remake was going to be doomed, anyway.

That explains why Sokka didn't have any descendants in TLOK! TheSlash 14,539
Reading the list of these ridiculous rumored-to-be changes I'm not surprised, tbh. ATLA is one of the (if not THE) best show with it being aimed towards a younger audience while still dealing with very mature themes. If Netflix would ever pick it up for real, there wouldn't need to be any changed needed bc the audience is already very broad . Also, without the original creators I think the fanbase would deny its existence just as much as that non-existing movie Ew, David!
