People who are racist/homophobic/transphobic/etc aren’t stupid. It’s not our obligation to convince them that prejudice isn’t good tho.

A lot of the time, these ignorant people aren't wanting to view anything other than their own views. We can educate them as much as we want but 90% of the time, their mind is made up. It's not our job to educate these people.

Yeah I know most of the people won’t change because of us but still we must be the ones to do the right thing and be as kind, polite and helpful as we can potentially be! I feel like Gaga would say the same thing

I guess we’re just different people. I would never extend kindness to those who hold such evil views. Even if they are family.

She meant well but shouldn’t have told others to do the same, because not everyone is comfortable having relationships with bigoted relatives. I think that’s why people are taking issue with the tweet.

Personally, I’ve cut contact with a few MAGA cousins (and we’re Latino :yennefer:). Just because we share blood doesn’t mean we have to have a close relationship, and it’s not my job to try and educate them nor do I have the mental patience for that.

all these people have someone in their family who is conservative, we all do.

it's unrealistic to erase these people from existence.

This is probably why Lady Gaga has been silent about this issue. :rip:

Because Gaga knows what us LGBT+ people have gone through these past years. While I would never endorse revenge, celebrities have to respect how e go about making peace with those around us, even when making that peace does not involve them (like me and countless friends I have lost to Trump's racism exposing them as complacent).

Imagine telling another person what to do with their own family because yours is good :billie:

It goes both ways. She meant well but it's a tone def thing to say. like all the celebrities saying " no matter who you voted for, lets all celebrate!". My MAGA grandma and i have a great relationship but i can't say the same for other LGBT+ and Minority people with their families. What works for some isn't going to work for everyone

It's just the twitter syndrome that every person thinks that they are the center of the universe and just because their life is not good atm so everybody in the world needs to support them and act the same way.. so like "my Disney lovers family kicked me out of the house because I love Warner, so everybody should hate Disney and watch only Warner and if a celebrity says anything otherwise they are canceled".. this is how I see and sum twitter more or less :laughga:

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Whats the difference between the people that voted fot Trump and the persons that are commenting under that post? NONE. The same little piece of sheibe, just with differente colors.

The world is becoming such an awful place to live just because the ones shouting and trying to stop the injustice and inequality are acting the same that the ones doing those injustices.

Sorry but **** woke perfectionism. Wokeness is fine, but woke perfectionism is over-the-top, counter-productive, and often quite hypocritical.

Okay, y'all. The oppressed DO NOT HAVE ANY RESPONSIBILITY WHATSOEVER to educate the oppressors. We have every, and I repeat, EVERY, right to completely cut off any Trump supporter. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHY THEY VOTED FOR TRUMP. At the end of the day, they knowingly voted for a racist, ableist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic (and this list goes on) person. It does not matter why, that still makes them evil people. It. does. not. matter. why. And if you can be like "oh we should be nice to them still, they're human"? Well, how nice of you to be able to be nice with someone who'd see many of us killed and be happy about it. How very nice is that.

Non-trump supporters are not the ones responsible for the "division" in that country either (at least not to the degree Trump supporters/conservatives are), so don't even try that.

Oppressors don't get to demand respect. Oppressors don't get to ask for humanity, they don't get to ask for niceness. They don't even get to ask for basic human respect at this point. So save your breath and stop defending oppressors in the name of "niceness". Because you say "nice", you say "family", you say "a non-divided country" but all I hear is privilege.

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

Being mean on twitter = supporting a fascist, racist, sexist, homophobic wannabe dictator, apparently. Sure, Joanne :billie:

But they "erased" minorities for a long ass time, and it worked out the way they wanted.

Erasing conservatives sends them the message that they're not wanted if they're gonna have views like this, and we should all commit to that.

This apathy/kindness bullshit is doing no good. I can't go to the White House and tell Trump he's a nasty ****er, but I can sure as hell go up to my conservative relatives and tell them just that. No Trump supporters = no Trump. These people have to be opressed because clearly they're too ****ing dumb to be educated.
