A smarter 'Trump' will rise to power

yeah that next Trump will be a lot scarier. He or she will be a lot more manipulative, intelligent and analytical. It's going to be a scary. Expect that person to lead us straight into war with Iran and potentially an even more direct economical war with China which will lead us into something horrible. This person will be a lot calmer and tactical but will have a lot of thirst for power and violence. I feel it tbh :messga:

But will the Americans latch onto them? Trump is flashy and exciting. He harnessed the right's feral instincts. I don't see a mundane candidate doing that.

Scary either way.

Just imagine an evil Justin Trudeau

I agree that this is a huge problem in the U.S. However, I have no idea how to fix it. I am from a very rural blue-collar area, and there's not much one can do to convince people to vote for a Democrat. The political propaganda from the last 40 years has them convinced that Democrats are out to take their guns, shut down churches, and make the U.S. a communist nation. If you sit down with them and show them actual Democratic policies, they just say that "all Democrats are liars" and hold steadfast to their beliefs.

Before my grandfather passed away, I remember him saying over and over again how he couldn't believe so many people he knew were voting Republican. He grew up poor and was a blue-collar worker all his life.

What *is* the solution?

I think they are saying that someone charismatic and good at his job can do what trump did but better. They keep underscoring someone who is actually likable and electable they dont mean just any old republican will take his place cos the base is there. Theyre saying someone with much more talent can seize that base and dems wont be able to rely on them being outright bad at their job.

It will probably be one of his idiot children since they can capitalize on the rabid Trumper base and will learn from Dad's mistakes.

Trump‘s administration planted the seeds for a not so polarizing smart, competent and presidential Trump-like politician to succeed.

Trump harnessed the right‘s instincts, shed a light on the left‘s weaknesses and he put to light what the American people want to hear. But that doesn’t mean another more competent candidate can‘t capitalize on that. In fact, an actual more moderate yet far more presidential candidate using what Trump created to his advantage, after Trump, could win BIG, and his policies would be far more accepted because he is NOT like Trump.

I totally see Ivanka Trump happening in the future. Imagine her being the first elected female President.

For example Buttigieg vs Ivanka in 2024 or 2028 sounds not too unrealistic actually.

I've been saying this for years.

Democrats need to buckle up because Republicans are VERY GOOD at politics. Even when they spew lies they do it well and it works on their people.

The GOP has managed to mix religion and politics and now Trump gave them the tools to become a CULT.

Don't make the mistake to think they won't use Trump's same strategies in future elections.

the article isn't wrong, but i wouldn't go as far and assume that trump is completely out of the picture. he might be an idiot, his strategist are very smart though. and they've been planning long-term for a whole while now. not sure if one election loss closes this chapter

Yes but ...... Trump's extreme behaviour turns a lot of people off and a lot of people on. If you tone it down, you win some and you lose some.

Also, if you want to piggyback on Trump's successful policies, let's be clear, you are gonna have to be racist, and you therefore irretrievably lose a huge chunk of voters.

And don't underestimate Trump as a politician. He may be useless at the nuts and bolts of being president, but he is superb on tv. Virtually everything he says is untrue, but that's only a detail. It's all about presentation.

i think that it's less about left, center, or right, but more about having an abnormally magnetic candidate. a candidate like trump can rise anywhere on the spectrum in the USA imo and now they have a rough outline that, at the very least, tells one that fascism is possible in america. like if trump were for medicare for all, a higher minimum wage, equality, climate, etc. etc. and he were a democratic president dismantling democracy as he is doing now as a republican, i am fairly confident that a lot of these dems would be somehow much less ardent about voting him out because he is on their side :triggered:. a lot of people are just hypocritical that way, even on the left.

if a politician rises with trump's penchant for communication and wrong-doing, with obama's mind for strategy, politics, and general intelligence comes along, then i think the scenario painted in this article will be a real possibility because the playbook which says that it indeed can be done in the USA has been established by trump. and i think this person can rise in either party.

Biden and Harris should go into the country during their presidency like Trump did and actually talk to people from the working class who voted Republican. Hold rallies and put the spotlight back on those people who consider themselves "forgotten".

Get to know their problems and fears and show they care. This would be a good antidote to republican retoric and propaganda. Their presidency should be focussed on uniting the country more than anything.
