JanStan 574 Posted November 7, 2020 Share Posted November 7, 2020 I would strongly disagree that progressive ideas are the answer to a more successful 2024 election. Those ideas only work in progressive cities in which a HUGE majority of this country is not and as we know you can’t win an election in big cities alone. This isn’t even a debate as the Democratic Party has rejected presidential candidates that are too progressive pretty handily. I think we’re beginning to see even minority groups turning to the Republican Party as an effort to thwart the far left. The Democratic Party would do far better to try to court moderate Republicans but instead have focused on the far left which as of right now will be a losing battle. Those 2 groups are mutually exclusive. Moderate Republicans will easily choose a republican like Trump over one who espouses policies that they attribute to the Democratic Party (i.e. open borders, defunding police, $15 minimum wage etc). In other words there are far more moderate republicans than there are far left democrats and just looking at numbers it’s pretty clear what Policies the next president will promote. There is WORK to be done the second Biden is in office to ensure we can do our best to avoid this situation. If it's possible for there to be a competent right wing possibility then we should fight for a left wing or just entirely new version of this same idea. F*ck Trump 2.0 but smarter. I rebuke it. Biden IS the answer to this as he will be the incumbent..or at least he needs to be the answer. There are many opinions as to what that looks like. I have an opinion and so do many others. The fact that the Democratic establishment thought Biden would be the best candidate to go up against Trump is evidence enough that they don't know how to avoid this situation. Biden barely survived this election against an incompetent clown with a disastrous record, so how can we expect him (or any other centrist) to hold up against a more politically savvy populist? They are easy dinner for Republican politicians, just promised them naive things about restoring old american values and they will get their vote. Hence I think the minions need to be smarter first before someone like that appear. It is law of the nature.
