Lava 3,201
can't believe she changed it entirely from the goth/dark pop tfm part 2 aesthetic we were gonna get to Joanne, just to "fix" her Trump-supporting father We endured that era just for papa Joe, and now he votes for trump. We lost an amazing original album because of a trump supporter.. smh! Spoiler This is a joke(partially), Joanne was a good album and an experimental time; but holy f I really wish we still got the original LG5

Joanne is great, I genuinely do like it, as I like all her other work. But it would have put Joanne in a grave. (pun intended)
PEZ 6,213
(I read your spoiler but I'm still gonna make a somewhat serious reply) Some people say it was made "all for her father" or "she did this just for her father" but I think it was something she needed to work through, too. She had to eventually reckon with the generational trauma she inherited from her father, to process it and heal herself, on her mental health journey. How much of that she realized at the time, I'm not sure (would help if I went back and listened to interviews). But I think she realizes that now, at the very least. These kinds of pains and processings explode through her heart and art first, then get coped with through words and thoughts and healing. ⚡🐲

I think the album really showed the world just how genuine and down to earth she is. It was very personal, and I like it for that reason. Perfect Illusion is honestly one of my favorite songs of hers ever, its just crazy she scrapped a whole album she had been working on and went in a completely different direction. There was some long ass twitter thread that had actually researched all these dates and evidence, etc. If someone can find it, please link it. Anyways, she did that really goth/dark V magazine shoot, kept teasing "chaos angel" and said she was going back to the darkness of pop that she appreciated so much. RichAssPiss 4,773
Claiming Joanne was for her father is something new she's on about. In Five Foot Two she is very passionate about it. It's a very personal album made on the heels of her exploration of country music writing and filming A Star Is Born. It's a brilliant album and it's who she was at the time. The idea it has no value because her father sucks is false.
