This "record" is kinda pointless (no offense to the OP), because it goes up naturally as the population grows, which it does pretty much continuously. It's like Trump bragging about the stock market hitting an all-time high -- something it does almost every year (and even on most days), since it trends upwards at about 7% a year in the long term, decade after decade, and only rarely suffers a crash. Not only is this bad for them as a whole, but it’s terrible for progressives who won’t have more leverage and will be hurt by Democrats inability to get anything through the Senate.
