You cant win an election with a polarising figure that terrifies republicans. Theyre not intelligent and dont have thought processes like the rest of us. You win an election by being appealing to both sides. A hard-core lefty is never going to win.

NO! We get less republicans to vote Biden than in 2016!!!!! The Lincoln Project was an utter failure. The Biden Republican is as rare as can be.

Simply not true. You have no data to show this to be factual. New voters registered and people moved from rep to dem or 3rd party, but nobody knows at this point which way they voted previously.

All we know is that the geography of the vote for Biden worked in our favour.

Look at the UK. We had the choice of Boris the buffoon or our Bernie, Jeremy Corbin. Jeremy was the clear logical vote but because he was a hard-core lefty he alienated the uneducated working class & the top-earning citizens. That lost him the election against Bojo the clown.

The neoliberals in here screaming about how we need to be more conservative eventhough MORE Republicans voted for Trump this time than in 2016 (93% vs 90%). Not to mention Trump received MORE votes this time than last time too.

That means Republicans are as extreme and radicalized as Trump and the far-right, they're not moderates

The US is not the UK. We have a two party system here and if people want a Republican they can have one, there’s no need for a diet Republican

Two things about running more progressive candidates:

#1.) I think in order for people to say "running a progressive candidate is 100% the wrong thing to do," we first need to get a progressive candidate on the Democratic ticket  On paper, Biden was the perfect candidate to run: he's been in politics for a long time; he was the VP for 8 years, which meant he had a lot of name recognition; and he was a moderate, which theoretically would help him gain potentially more Independent and Republican votes. He's probably going to end up with 306 electoral college votes, which is good, but he narrowly won states like PA, MI, WI, and GA which all gave him the edge.

People may say that having a progressive alienates others, but we don't really know that for sure until we actually have a progressive on the Democratic ticket. Bernie was doing fine in the primaries—better than fine actually—until Biden won SC, and then every other moderate running backed him. We can speculate all we want, but until a day like that happens, it's just that: speculation.

#2.)  We also need to see what's going to happen these next 4 years. Perhaps Biden will be more progressive than we realized, considering just how far right Trump has been. Perhaps he'll put progressives in his cabinet and in powerful positions. There's a lot that could happen these next 4 years. Before talking about 2024 at all, we should focus on what we can do during this time.

Tbh if I were American and registered Democrat, I'd be all in for a 3rd run by Bernie. I wouldn't expect him to get the ticket and wouldn't b*tch about it later but I would thank him for it since it'd most likely push center Democrats into adapting a more progressive agenda to get Bernie's base. 

Then again, Bernie is getting older each day and I think the guy deserves some peace for all he done for Americans. 

It's baffling how similar US politics has gotten to one in my own country so I don't see any reason to not share this: pandering to right DOES NOT work for center-left parties. It's like buying iPhone se when you have means to get the pro max. If you want a "right-wing" president, you wouldn't vote for the one that all the LGBTI+, immigrants and POC vote for. Same thing happened over here and most Left-wingers stayed home, refusing to vote for a guy with a fundamentalist statements in his past. The funniest part was, after the elections he ditched the opposition party and became an MP for the authoritarian government
