MelbHawker 6,583
Is anyone watching the press conference from Trumps lawyer about voter fraud? This is so embarrassing to watch. I can’t believe they’re still pressing on with voter fraud.. & Trumps on his golf course. I live for this train wreck, Donald Trump is truly f*cked. caulixtla 2,170
1 hour ago, MJHolland said: If you think progressives can win (as I do), please stop wasting your time writing ranting essays. Go out and organize your community for progressives. If you know how Hillary/Biden ran shitty campaigns, then help us run a better campaign next cycle. Build a coalition and show us progressives can win, because we have not seen that yet. If the progressives want the 2024 candidate to be a progressive, then they will need to find a candidate who will bring out the progressive vote. When all was said and done, Sanders just did not get out the vote this spring. I have yet to see this unicorn progressive who gets out the vote. Another thing: While, yes, there are reliability issues with polls, yes, Biden did poll better for the general than Sanders. They both polled well, but there was a definite edge where Biden got more polling numbers than Sanders; this was consistent across multiple polls. Considering how AZ/GA/WI/PA are nail biters, it might have been the difference between winning and losing the election. [1] While 2020 had polling issues just as 2016 did, keep in mind that 538 weighted polls called every state except NC and FL, so while they aren’t great, they still give us a ballpark figure. RealClearPolitics predicted as well as 538, predicting every state except FL and GA. If we make NC and GA “Toss up”, since 538 and RCP had different results for them, FL was the only miss. [2] Point being, the Sanders crowd hasn’t yet showed any real evidence that Sanders would had given us a landslide victory instead of the nail biter victory we got. The only thing the Sanders crowd has is that some progressive measures (increased minimum wage in FL; the deep red states who have voted for increased medicaid) have won at the state level, but even here it’s mixed: California voted against affirmative action, and California voted for allowing Uber and Lyft to have a 100% contractor workforce. Whether or not 2024’s Democratic party candidate is an incrementalist or progressive doesn’t affect how they will do in the general; what matters is how appealing they are to a broad coalition of voters, not just white progressives. People of color are just not progressive the way people think they are: Latinos, yes Latinos, [3] gave Trump FL and TX this election. GA flipped blue because of Biden’s appeal among black voters, since he is very much on Obama’s coattails. [1] My thought is that, if Sanders became the candidate, we would had lost AZ and GA; we still would had won, but it would had been 280-258 instead of the 306 (possibly 295) [2] EVs we actually got. [2] AZ is still up in the air, but it will probably remain Biden’s but we won’t know until next week. Notably telling with AZ is that Trump hasn’t crossed the line to get more votes than Biden, while Biden crossed the line with WI and MI Tuesday, and crossed the line in GA and PA Friday. Source : https://alex.github.io/nyt-2020-election-scraper/battleground-state-changes.html. And, @Jill is right: AZ is blue because both of its senators are blue, and we need more states giving us blue senators than we need states giving Biden EVs right now. I can make the case that we will ultimately prevail in AZ, but that’s another posting. [3] I usually use latin@s, the Spanish language way of saying “latinx”, but with Trump it very much was a case of males voting overwhelmingly for him.
