The West Has Failed - US & Europe Handling The Pandemic

News flash: no one is winning with this pandemic.

This article is so biased, I'm just not sure what's the reason behind it.

China is so careful and efficient at controlling their population that they caused a worldwide epidemic with millions of deaths...AGAIN. And all of this while locking apartment blocks with concrete to keep people inside, and killing doctors who tried to advise about the virus before it got out of hand.

New Zealand is a case of success but it can barely be considered culturally "eastern". Both toilet-paper-hoarding Australia and exemplary New Zealand are very easily put together culturally with the western countries. They did nothing different than the west, also adapting the same measures that were mostly used in Asian countries before due to their high air pollution and disease spreading. The main reason Australia, and New Zealand especially, were so successful is because their countries are literally surrounded by the ocean, which makes it easy to block travels and keep their low-density population controlled. 

Japan can easily be explained not only by the aforementioned reason but also because they are very diligent when it comes to hygiene and social norms. 

Now, I'm curious as to why this article completely disregards the second largest country in the world by population, which can soon surpass the US with the most cases: India, an eastern country. They have done almost no testing until mid-June, and even now they aren't doing that much testing (compared to their population). This means that their infection and death numbers might be much higher than the statistics show.

 

It's easy to laugh at "the Democracy and Freedom ways of the west" while benefiting from them. I'm sure if she was in an autocracy without a social system, she wouldn't be making these privileged remarks. The first reason being she wouldn't be allowed to.

 

All I have to say is, everyone is doing it wrong. Humans are dumb because they almost never do what's good for them, they just do what gives them the most pleasure. The government tries to offset this by implementing measures that would be good for the population if they were actually followed by them. But the only way to make sure everyone is being diligent is by military force, and the west believes everyone being free is better than 0.001% of the population surviving a couple more years.

The fact that China is mentioned in only a fragement of a relative clause of the article yet all of y'all make it out as if this article was some sort of propagandistic manifest coming directly from the Chinese government speaks VOLUMES. The only people talking about China.... are y'all. The point isn't about China, it has never been. 

The point is that democracies in the east have handled this crisis way better and that the western hemisphere felt like it doesn't have to anything to advert crisis because it has a seemingly bulletproof west on AND how the western hemisphere condescendingly has looked down on competent disease containment just because it wasn't invented by somebody white.

So what you get at the end is clueless spoiled people that all they want is their freedom back... we're 8 months into the pandemic, what started as a clap to the doctors at the balcony act, became a frustration, lack of money and mentally impossible..

I guess to me, I can't even trust my own president or government, and I'm not as informed on how things work in other nations as I'd like to be. It's easier to see propaganda happening in your own country, but harder to see it in others. Are they fueling their own propaganda machine, or are they being factual and independent? It's all hard to say.

I know the U.S. paints other countries as bad, but I just get the feeling that recently other countries have been painting us as bad, as a means of distracting from their own issues.

Sis all those arguments make zero sense, it's an opinion with no facts to back it up. I gladly realize with my own eyes that the west has an issue to contain the virus but I cannot accept with my logical mind that it's because we are "arrogant" and think we are "superior" because the virus did not emerge from a country that's not "white" and therefore the west is "racist" and because of the history of colonialism it explains why in 2020 Italy and especially Milan was overwhelmed by the virus because of all that info right there, because the history of the west shows that we are all arrogant, every single minister, anyone who worked in health departments of every single countries in europe or north america, everyone was arrogant, everyone thought they were superior, even scientists, virologists, the population, we all thought we were so great so amazing and untouchable, you included. And now we can't control it, and it explains the deaths. All of that from one human flaw: ego. And the article says all that with no fact to back it up because u cant prove it
