Thomas P 18,479 Posted October 26, 2020 Share Posted October 26, 2020 My big Madonna phase that lead me to consume her entire catalogue happened in 2015 when I was 14, and I had some questionable opinions then (ie, if you would’ve asked me then I would’ve said Hard Candy ). Nowadays, Ray Of Light and Erotica are her two career masterpieces, so I recommend these most. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill. From a critical acclaim perspective, Ray of Light is undoubtedly her greatest work so far. Absolutely fab from start to finish. Visually, musically, lyrically, it is Madonna at her artistic peak. In terms of pure pop music, you can't go wrong with True Blue, or any of the 80's albums, really. Personally, my first and favourite Madonna album will always be Erotica. I was about 8 when I first heard it (probs too young ), and I was entranced by it. It stands out as a dark horse in her discography, and is perhaps her most underrated work. Not quite up there with the pop heights and commercial success of her 80's work, but not yet critically acclaimed like her work in the late 90's/early 2000's. It is Madonna at her most rebellious, and I love everything about it. Not to mention the subsequent world tour (The Girlie Show) is Madonna's best tour, hands down.
