Y'all. Even if you think you're defending Billie by saying "she is normal / average size" YOU ARE STILL BODY SHAMING AND CONTRIBUTING TO OUR FAT-PHOBIC SOCIETY. You are still commenting on and analyzing her body, and you are saying without words that people who don't look like Billie are abnormal! I hope everyone here takes the time to read about body positivity and how to help dismantle our patriarchal fat-shaming culture because I see it engrained even in these well meaning posts.

This is body shaming.

Yes it is. That's the point I was making. She looks beautiful either way and she is not obese in any photo. Like the other commenter keeps throwing that word around when referring to Billie's photo.

But saying Billie "isn't even as big as Gaga" is problematic. So is sharing a photo of Gaga implying she is "big" in it.

True, I apologise for it. But it's intention was because this particular stan probably had nothing to say when it was Gaga, but is now hypocritically saying it when it's Billie. It want intended as a shot against Gaga or her weight.

Thank you for recognizing it and expressing remorse. I understand the point you were trying to make. I just hope we can make these points without bringing anyone down, whether intentional or just because of conditioning.

I can’t believe some of y’all are really saying, that she should just get over it, instead of calling out the ones bullying her. You can’t choose how someone feels or reacts to hatred and bullying. If you aren’t affected by people saying nasty stuff about you, doesn’t mean that she isn’t affected by it.

I feel so sorry for her. This is the whole reason she wore lots of baggy clothing (and also so she wouldn’t be sexualized).

Wtf? She looks pretty normal to me. I don’t get people’s obsession with talking about other’s weight. It’s not like the girl is obese or unhealthy...

I said what I said. Its not healthy to be overweight

Of course it is, just learn how to be polite please, you think underweight people dont know they're underweight and that overweight people are overweight?

I think people are distracted by the unflattering shorts more than anything and as they're in the middle, they break up the overall image. If she was wearing figure-hugging clothes from top to bottom, people probably wouldn't have even picked up on it. I didn't know she was this kinda cup size until now, maybe being this exposed isn't really normal for her and she feels a bit self-conscious and that's partly why she covers up. As a DD cup myself, I feel a bit too afraid of wearing vest tops in public as I feel like everyone's looking at my chest. The mixture of these two things are creating the illusion that she's bigger than what she is. The fact that people still can't see the blatant trick of the eye that's happening here despite years of how these illusions are created being public knowledge is sad to see.

Billie's body is perfectly normal and healthy. She's never tried to give the impression that she was anything other than what she was either so it's not like she's even being called out for photoshopping her pictures to be slimmer (like some celebrities are accused of). It's just people being bored in quarantine, seeing a body that doesn't completely match with their personal standards and they just speak without thinking. Something that's all too common nowadays. To do this to anyone is bad but especially to a teenager whose body is still developing is unforgivable. I also doubt everyone critiquing her is in their ideal happy weight either which is the most ironic thing. I simply don't know why anyone feels the need to voice their opinion on someone else's body when that person doesn't affect their life in any way. If you don't shout out the body status of everyone walking down the street, why do it to celebrities?

people should just leave each other alone :triggered: billie eilish aside, even if someone is bigger what is the POINT of bringing up your stupid comments, whether it be about health or whatever asinine point you make, trust me, people who aren't in the "norm" are reminded every day about how they look, so just be quiet, you're being a ****en douche. oh and annoying af.

She isn’t overweight at all, it’s a shame that she has to even defend herself.

I don’t agree with body shaming, but I do think we've become too soft about talking about weight. When I saw that picture, I didn't actually recognise her and it took me a minute to realise it was her. Its not healthy to be overweight and we should be able to talk about weight more freely without putting someone down negatively.

Not the first comment being exactly what the thread was talking about. :messga: You’d think as fans of the kindness queen we would know better. Especially as much as Gaga deals with these same issues through her entire career.
