DWUW! Was it really necessary to cut Do What U Want from ARTPOP completely?

Yes, it was necessary.  When Gaga released her statement about pulling DWUW, she basically said she did not stand behind the message of it anymore, and that it came from a place of trauma for her. I think a lot of people forget this when talking about the song. It's about more than just R Kelly.

Obviously it was mainly pulled because of the R Kelly stuff, but if Gaga didn't feel comfortable with it anymore, that's what matters most.

I still think that as a project, it was genius. Three of the most controversial people of the time (Gaga, R Kelly, Terry Richardson) collaborating on a song saying whatever you speak of their body (of work) and reputation, you can't control them. Unsavory? Maybe. Meta? Absofckenlutely.

I agree! It was bound to be one of her greatest hits and such a recklessly smart campaign but then everything went wrong. It’s still one of her best songs ever and I miss hearing in along with ARTPOP

I think it's due to the fact that R. K*lly still has writing credits for it. Even if she would replace the song with the solo version or the Xtina version, he would technically still earn some money from it, which would people set off as in "she still "supports" him in a way".

It’s my favorite song from the album and yeah it sucks that she removed it but it’s ok, she spoke about it and had her reasons. I still listen to it because I purchased it so it sucks that it’s never gonna be played live. 

You can really tell ARTPOP was such a bad experience to her so she just wanted to move on and forget about it, I don’t think she cares that much about this now. She is way happier now with Joanne and Chromatica.

I can understand why Gaga did it but it wasn't necessary. Also, it should've been replaced by solo or Xtina version.

What I'm still laughing about though, is that people preferred to trashtalk Gaga for collabing with him in 2013 instead of trashtalking R.Kelly himself for his actions

This is why I think a DWUW collab with Britney Spears that would have had visuals heavily focused on tabloids, paparazzi, 2012-2013 for Lady Gaga, and 2006 - early 2008 for Britney Spears would have been amazing.

This! I remember even in 2013 she said that sometimes she doesn't feel like singing that song. It came from a hurt place and she was never fully comfortable with it, I think.
