I felt satisfied knowing this show was getting its final season and not going to be dragged out for too long (ahem OITNB) I'm just not satisfied with the S3 finale now being the actual finale, even though they were already filming season 4. So many shows aren't being renewed all because of this. It sort of makes sense, from the sounds of it, they have to pay to keep the sets and if they aren't going to be filming anytime soon, it's hard to keep actors schedules available/paying for everything. They were starting to film their fourth season right when COVID took complete control over life here in the US. So from a health and safety perspective they stopped; if anything they could have just pushed everything back like many shows still on the air did. It sounds like the show got a narrow renewal and all the COVID expenses caused it to get cancelled. I'm not sure how filming is done now, but I'm pretty sure I read Locke and Key is resuming production and will be in production until next year.
