The only reason Katy got five number ones is because she released remixes with big name artists for every single after Firework. I lowkey don't think it was deserved but it iz what it izzz.

If Gaga did something similar during The Fame era, I could see her getting 5 no 1's - not so much for BTW.

Girl, ET (solo version) was charting so high alongside ET remix version. The song was bound to be a hit regardless.

I agree Last Friday Night gotten #1 thanks to the remix, but it made to top10 on its own with radio support.

Katy was just huge that time. Anything she releases was eating up by radio and the public. No need to undermine her success

No. The Edge of Glory could have been #1 but other than that I don’t see it. Her image was already getting tired and overexposed.

Honestly if BTW, TEOG, and MTN were the only singles. They probably all gone #1 with the promo Gaga was delivering back then.

The singles should have been

Marry The Night - 2.11.2011

Born This Way - 4.15.2011

The Edge of Glory - 5.9.2011

Yoü & I - 8.22.2011

Hair - 11.15.2011

Scheiße - 2.10.2012

I imagine 6 #1s from the album if you look at the amount of promo. Or do you think The Edge of Glory or any 2nd-6th single would’ve stayed as it is for any reason such as radios and overexposure

in a perfect world where gays are seen as normal as straight, yes.

what changed since BTW was the shift to gay crowd, and that drives away some GP.

BTW as a whole, is a very matured and well crafted album.

TEOG would’ve gone #1 as an official second single. And then a better music video.

Born This Way: 1

The Edge of Glory : 1

Yoü & I: 3

Marry The Night: 10

Scheiße: top 20

Hair: top 20

And hair would’ve been her swan song of the era

Nah, The One That Got Away was on its own.

That didn’t hit number one though and she released a remix with B.O.B which kinda proves my point.

For BTW i think max of 3 #1..

TFM could’ve accomplished that but the competition back then was tight though they can get those if they really pushed too hard (payola and everything).

Wait, there's a B.O.B. remix :triggered:

The Edge of Glory is the most GP- friendly cut off Born This Way by far and could (should) have gone #1 with the right push but none of the other tracks on the album could have done it I think. Born This Way is an incredibly bold album. Gaga could very easily have put out another album full to the brim with singles but instead she chose to push herself into doing something much more *worthy* and for that I am forever grateful.

I personally would’ve preferred TEOG to be the second single, followed by You&I. Then to close the era maybe Scheiße or MTN. Or both :lolga:
