Then again, when she gets the songs right, it hardly seems to matter that what she's singing about - fame, flings, being "beautiful dirty rich" - is shallow. 'Love Game', 'Paparazzi', 'I Like It Rough' and future single 'Poker Face' are every bit as effective as 'Just Dance': bombastic electro-R&B monsters that are almost impossible not to dance to.

Sorry but calling LoveGame “electro-R&B” just feels like one of those made up genres stans use to make their artist seem more versatile, when it’s just dance/synth-pop If we’re talking about R&B influences in Gaga’s music, then Second Time Around would’ve been a better example imo

Gaga has an imagination that other people don't have. She has a solid knowledge of and interest in a huge variety of different art and music styles and genres, both old and new, from which she can draw inspiration. She is open minded enough to appreciate music/art at its extremes and is bold enough to take risks. This combined with her classical training and natural talent are what make her so special.

I can't understand why people would want her to do safe, generic, inoffensive "classic" AC music that anyone could make.

I'm sorry, but what makes you think electronic music is so revolutionary? Well made music comes in all forms and styles. I want a well written instrument based pop album. As if doing Chromatica was so imaginative? It's familiar dance and house stuff.

If you are trying to imply irony with the Just Another Day, then again pettiness can't be the ultimate answer. I didn't state my comment with any assumptions, I have provided reference.

Irony? I was being serious. Digital Spy once wrote an article about the multi-genre chanteuse Joanne. They specifically named Just Another Day and called it an “experimental heavy-metal/symphonic rock-song disguised as jazzy tune”. You should read it someday

I wasn't necessarily talking about electronic music. And I also don't think she has to do anything revolutionary.

Cheek to Cheek, despite being all covers, was a better display of her unique skills/boldness/knowledge IMO than say, MR. In order to make C2C to the standard she made it she had to have the knowledge of and experience in a genre that the vast majority of her contemporaries don't have. And she had to have the boldness to put out a full album that was 100% secure in it's specific sound/genre and therefore risks alienating certain listeners, as opposed to the neutered soft rock/jazz/country pop ballads found in AC music that are designed to be as broad and unspecific in their sound so as to blend into the background of any setting.

 

I certainly don't mean to insult your taste in music, no one's tastes are more "correct" than anyone else's. But I just think Gaga's unique range of skills/knowledge put her in a position to make music that other people can't make, and so it would be a shame for her to make music thay everyone else can make.
