I am always surprised some fans say Chromatica is her best album... I think they are just under the impresseion of having a new album... I mean, it's definitely not as innovative and sonically diverse as her other albums, I have no idea how it can be the best

For me it's my favorite album because of the following:

1. Only Gaga album that doesn't have any skips and because there's no divergence in sound, when I'm in the mood for dance music, there's no clunky ballad in the bottom third of the album that switches up the pace of the listening experience.

2. While her ability to be referential with regard to music may be more interesting in terms of artistic experiment (BTW shines here obviously), Chromatica is the most personal album to date where Gaga really reveals the most about her as a person than in any other album. Other albums focus on what she stands for, what she's interested in and what she has to say about specific topics.

3. I've always wanted her to give us some really 90s house/eurodance a la Kylie Minogue style and this album is the closest to that that she has ever given us to date.

4. It blends both the high concept of Chromatica and the personal revelations and human experience in a way that her other albums don't quite measure up to. The closest being Born This Way as the album is a huge sonic journay of self-empowerment and the malleability of identity.

So I guess this is a long winded way of saying that it really depends how you interpret 'best' and for me it has everything to do with my already developed musical preferences and the connection to Gaga through the music and lyrics. I think Chromatica fits that more than the others.

Universally The Fame Monster is considered as the best album of Gaga. 🕺🏽

1: Born This Way (cult album, turning point of her career, solidify her fanbase, bold, indus but sweet, full of bops and references, visually stunning...) :firega:
2: Chromatica (Cohesive, mature, personnal but dancing, big replay value, no skips, interesting topics, cool production retro but actual)
3: The Fame Monster (Edgy, aesthetic, fashion, polished, pop at his best, good mv's)
4: Joanne (Cohesive, her voice, mark ronson's touch, private but universal)
5: The Fame (Good debut album with some gems, cool first steps into her universe)
6: ARTPOP ( Highs high/ Lows low, a part of the production was dated even when it was released, kinda messy)
7: ASIB (an album for the GP with the cult Shallow and IARUTW and some pastiches of her first songs)
8: Red & Blue (cute but very forgettable)
9: C2C (an album of boring jazz covers with a guy but still her incredible voice)

It is not Born This Way.  It’s The Fame: Monster.  It’s always been The Fame: Monster,  it’s always gonna be The Fame: Monster.  :creepflop:

It’s her only album where I don’t skip.

The Fame Monster is her most beloved album by fans, critics and the general public. Even if you’re a fan and have a different favorite, The Fame Monster has less flaws and criticism than all of her work. It’s objectionally her most important album.

This is true

plus ALL of the songs on the fame monster have been performed outside of their eras

including the snipped of SHICD at the JWT

It’s her Thriller. The album that made her an icon.

A Very Gaga Holida

We don't KNOW what it is, she doesn't have a BEST album, it's all subjective.

But personally I would say:

1. Born This Way

2. The Fame Monster / A Star Is Born

3. The Fame

4. ARTPOP / Joanne

5. Chromatica

6. Cheek To Cheek (she didn't write it)

From a GP and critics standpoint yes TFM would/should be considered her best work. However for me BTW is the very culmination of what Gaga is and who she stands for:

A woman who advocates for kindness and equality and embracing our flaws and doing so with passion and style:queenga:

It is honestly subjective, Gaga has a stellar catalog and everyone would have a different favorite. Most people on GGD rank Joanne as her lowest solo album, but it’s my favorite. Other people didn’t like ARTPOP, while some say it’s her best work. Everyone’s ranking looks different and that just shows what an amazing artist she is, always doing something amazing and unique that fits someone else’s taste.

See The Best In Everyone
