Were the fans responsible for Gaga's traumatic, depressing last 2.5 years?

At 7:58, Gaga said she 'could've done without the last 2.5 years of her life.' She cited an example of how a person would go take a selfie at the grocery store with her without permission, and she would suffer panic attacks.

It made me think, what else happened in the last 2.5 years, and were the fans responsible in any way?

I'm sure you remember. Despite being a critically acclaimed and commercially successful show, fans were bashing Enigma, especially its outfits and makeup, and the fact that it's situated in Las Vegas and she didn't visit anywhere else in the world. Everytime she went on stage, fans would mock her hair and makeup. She wasn't apologetic at all and went on to wear the same wig, and did slight changes to the makeup for leg 2, leg 3, and leg 4. She was definitely aware of the criticism but she did nothing about it. I believe she didn't want to acquiesce because it's to her an unapologetic statement to stick to her vision.

Haus Labs was exciting at first, but it quickly became the subject, and still is, of mockery. I'm not gonna lie, I myself might have made a couple of jokes about Haus Labs, but I don't think I've ever vehemently opposed the idea of it, and called it an absolute waste of time or something along the lines. I pledge today that I won't even make jokes about it in the future and will respect it because it represents a passion of hers that has given her strength and inspiration in difficult times.

We also know in the last 2.5 years she was on the wild, wild ride of stardom brought about by A Star Is Born. If you remember in the '100 people in the room' era, we were all concerned at her demeanor because she spoke very unnaturally and robotically in many of the interviews. She seemed unsure of herself, and at first I thought it was just her speaking as an actress for the first time, but now it all makes sense.

The height of her stardom (the A Star Is Born acclaim), might have been the height of her anxiety. It wasn't until after the Oscars that she spoke more naturally and seemed more like herself at the Jimmy Kimmel interview. You can clearly see the contrast between this and the Stephen Colbert interview.

Thoughts?

Unpopular opinion: I’m pretty sure we are not responsible for her traumatic years

Unfortunately she had enough problems in these years. She has lupus, her relationships were chaotic etc.

Haus Labs criticisms are extremely valid tho, sorry about it. I don’t think Gaga is that sensitive to be depressed because people don’t like her wig. I think it’s mostly the fact that she can’t leave the house and be a human being.

Also, I do think that after C2C, Joanne and ASIB she got to experiment a lot outside of the Gaga persona and when she returned to it maybe she found out that she doesn’t identify with it anymore.

I think we all know how outspoken she is with her struggles of PTSD and privacy. Watch 5ft2 and her mental health interview with Oprah, there’s nothing really to analyze when she says everything we need to know. If bullying from fans about her wigs and makeup was what pushed her into her psychological breakdown she would have let us know about it.

I find that a bit hard to believe. I think there are limits to what she's willing to say and what she's unwilling to say, especially when there are fans who bash her, and fans who support her.

It would disappoint and maybe even anger the fans who support her when she makes a broad statement like 'My fans were very harsh on me and made very unkind remarks on me.'

She still has a relationship to maintain with her fanbase in the future.

I would say yes and no. Mental health is a culmination of so many things. It’s easy to blame fans, but it’s important to recognize she has PTSD from a lot of traumatic moments too. The best we can do as a fan base is to listen to her, see that she is a real human being, and practice kindness. It’s what she’s been saying all along in very transparent terms.

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

I do not think fans are responsible. She suffers PTSD as the result of her assault. She had depression and anxiety before she was famous.

But fans don't help a lot of the time, that's for sure. The constant nitpicking, as well as bullying of her dear friends (Sarah! Bloodpop too) -- that must hurt her a lot.

But she does find joy in fans as well. When she can make a more personal connection, beyond a phone shoved in her face, I do think it still means a great deal to her.

I still highly doubt that the bullying she’s faced from fans since she debuted is a main player for her depression and break down. She knows she has hate online, she has spoken about that and we know that’s why she avoids the internet. But we also know that she has hours of interviews about her depression from 2017 to now about why she feels the way she feels. You can respect her honesty or you can make threads asking if fans are “responsible” for her depression.

This. I think fans could be more kind to her but we are not the reason she has PTSD and depression.

lol no we're not responsible for her mental health, also people in here tend to mistake criticism for bullying, so no, we not liking Haus Labs or a wig on a show made Gaga depressed
