Hey can we stop fighting in the thread and try and focus on the fact that such an amazing woman just passed?

So sad. I'm afraid for my future as a woman in this country, but besides that Ruth was such an inspiration and fought for everyone. She inspired many.

The entire Senate needs some shuffling around. Susan Collins, Lindsey Graham, to name a few...they gotta go.

3 senate elections in a row of republicans winning and keeping the senate majority. Let’s hope 2020 is different, but this is a bad scenario for Dems. Republicans and conservatives turn out at a higher rate if a Supreme Court seat is on the ballot. Boogeymanning with justice picks is one of the GOP tactics that works.

*Centre at best.

The way you live in the US and dont even know why you have your current president - let’s not w the nationality again. No **** y’all are called the left, but in reality most powerful dems are centre/centre right. Just because something is mainstream doesn’t mean its correct.

But its not that serious even. Its not about labels. There are material differences between a Biden (neoliberal) and Bernie (democratic socialist) platform that literally are against each other. There’s a reason some leftists are holding their nose voting for Biden/seeking a People’s Party Movement... notice the civil war in the party for once.

And yeah Joe can replace someone... but that’s IF they die, bc we know the right winger ones are not gonna retire. A super majority is secured for a while now... like boom. Its over. There’s nothing Dems can do. We can rehash the winter 2017 blame game again but like that’s kinda stale...

Left. Democrats are the left.

I know exactly why we have that idiot in office.

Most voters did.

If only she had campaigned more in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

God we are so screwed.

If only people in those states wouldn’t have thrown their vote away and in the process voted for Trump.

Yes, we are.

The thing is, even if by a miracle trump's nominee is stopped, he already has a 5-3 majority...

You better vote for Biden or it might be the last time you ever vote

Trump will insert someone before the election and the senate will make sure he does

Keep fighting. That’s all we can do. Don’t give into fear or a doom & gloom scenario. Stand up for what you believe in and keep pushing.

Friendly reminder that it's totally illogical to expect third party voters to switch party allegiance just because your party is losing. Blame the many more thousands of registered Dems who decided to stay at home instead of voting for who their party chose.

By that logic, the same third party voters could be said to have "taken" votes from Trump by not voting for him. There's no solution in blaming voters who were never in the party to begin with.

Roberts is a moderate who has shown that he will side enough with the liberal justices on the most important issues. This past summer showed that. Even Gorsuch had an interesting ruling in favor of Native Americans’ right to their land in Oklahoma. But yes this is pretty awful if there are basically five shitty conservatives at once.

A monumental loss.

I would of loved to have seen her *hopefully* see Trump leave office in January.

In her honor, we have to fight all the harder to make that happen.
