How about instead, we honor this woman's legacy and her tireless dedication to women and this country, and not talk bad about her like we seem to do with so many others? RBG deserves respect and we should try to do our best to give her that In no way am I saying that her selfishness in this one thing makes her awful. She was one of the best justices (we could talk about some bad votes but everyone has them). However, it was still her decision to still serve and now we all may suffer as a result. Thats just the reality.

Zilla 13,465
Nathan has been banned for obvious reasons, so please stop commenting on his posts and derailing the thread further. This is your final warning, ANY racial fueled posts, ANY BS posts, we're handing out hefty warnings and locking the thread again. I'm disgusted how a thread honoring such an amazing woman is being tarnished by this stuff. Knock it off. 𝙸'𝚖 𝚊 𝚓𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚓𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚎𝚜 𝚔𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚘𝚏 𝚐𝚒𝚛𝚕. Democrats can also recommend their own nominees. Even with Senator McConnell’s disregard for the blue-slip system, there has been space for bipartisan cooperation. For example, before joining the Senate, Tom Carper was the governor of Delaware, whose constitution used to require political balance among its judges. In that spirit, he and his co-senator from the state, Chris Coons, worked to have nominated two district court judgesunder Trump, both of whom were confirmed with voice votes. While many of Trump’s nominees are conservative ideologues, not all are, an idea best summed up by Senator Chuck Schumer of New York: “I voted against the overwhelming majority of President Trump’s judicial nominees because they lack the necessary experience and hold radical ideologies that make them unfit for a lifetime judicial appointment. In the instances I voted in favor of President Trump’s nominees, many of whom were recommended by Democratic Senators, I did so after thoroughly reviewing their records and determining that they were fit for lifetime appointments to the bench.” The majority of Democratic Senators are voting yes on 10-40 percent of the recommended judges, many who are qualified moderates. That’s vastly different than voting yes on the extreme tea party types that Trump is pushing through. They are voting no on those candidates.

caulixtla 2,170
Every single little monster out there who can legally vote in the United States needs to do so this year. Leaving aside the question of whether someone has a right to not be forced to carry a baby in their body for nine months (and, yes, little monsters, Mother Monster thinks a biological woman should be able to decide what to do with their own body, not the state), the problem is that Republicans want to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and return us to the days when people with pre-existing conditions would be left without medical insurance. The fact of the matter is this: On November 10, the Supreme Court is going to hear yet another frivolous case to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. If the Republicans ram another conservative hack through in to the Supreme Court, such as Amy Barrett who is on the record opposing the 2012 Supreme Court decision which saved the ACA, this means that we can kiss the ACA and protections for people with pre-existing conditions goodbye. Vote. And vote again and again in each election, because there are a lot of hateful people who can’t tell fact from fantasy out there who reliably vote Republican every single election; the 2010 right wing takeover of the House of Representatives—I’m old enough to remember it well—was the result of the low voter turnout we had that year.
