I hate when artists cancelled their originals albums to redo it and follow the mainstream sound :toofunny:

I hope Diamonds is not the representation of the album's sound :duck:

but they didnt do it for mainstream appeal, the original name was TO DIE FOR and it wasnt a great idea to release it these days (but they keeped the track which doesnt make much sense imo)

not sure if they changed the sound of it or something (not much of a stan so i dont really know) but everything they released before scrapping it, already sounded kinda mainstream/generic already tho

... and now i just sit in silence.

i have to say, the merch is really cute :legend: but i just pre-ordered the PS5 and i'm broke now :lana:

is this the same album that they wanted to release a couple month ago, but renamed or is this a completely new album (so basically written/produced during covid)?

I’m so excited! I’ve been waiting for an announcement since To Die For was postponed. I love the new cover and song, I can’t wait for the album!

The tracks that were previously released for To Die For are all included as bonus tracks (except for their cover of I Feel Love which isn’t on Love Goes at all). I’m not sure how many of the other songs were originally intended to be on To Die For but I do believe they’ve been writing and recording during the pandemic, and there are more tracks on this album so we’re getting a longer album .

At least their previous single had a more different kinda electronic sound, diamonds has that retro disco sound that is mainstream right now or at least to me.

I'm hoping it is just to follow the trend and the album will have a different sound 'cause I really like the ex-singles :duck:

What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

I love the song “promises” with Calvin Harris! But honeslty, what’s with artists putting 2+ years old singles on their new album?

It gets the album more streams and also gives those singles a physical release if they didn't already have one.

I really can’t get into it, I’ve loved their first two albums but this sounds like two projects combined and is a bit of a mess. I think they/their label made the mistake of not releasing an album last year with the singles Promises, How Do You Sleep? and Dancing With A Stranger. :fatcat:

Maybe this is Sam’s ARTPOP era. :trollga:

I haven’t heard the whole album yet and I wasn‘t a fan of Sam Smith before, but I really liked Diamonds, Dancing with a Stranger, How Do You Sleep?, To Die For, Fire on Fire and Promises.

I‘m so excited to her the rest.

People who don't like an artist evolving and trying out some new sounds will be disappointed – I, for my part, really liked the album, it is well produced and contains a good mix of the songs you would expect to hear and some that are out of their comfort zone. Some songs are stripped down ballads, some songs further explore the dance genre that they've stepped into last year, some songs have no instrumental at all while others end with a bang. Some songs will make you wanna dance while others make you wanna cry. This album really is an experience from start to finish if you're open for it.

I love the album! I wouldn’t say it’s perfect but it’s enjoyable and he’s breaking out of his shell. Love this merch, thinking if I should get the signed copy or not....

i hare how basic they become, they used to be really interesting and nostalgic but now it's like they just chase the trending sounds
