ApplauseftAdele 4,730
It is really depressing thinking about the era we could've gotten without COVID. If the rollout was actually as good as they say, Gaga would've ruled 2020. However, I think that COVID may have actually helped this era. 1. Overpromotion. After the 2020 VMA's where it was literally all Gaga, she was getting a lot of hate. People get tired of artists easily, and if Gaga was constantly promoting this year, it may have negatively affected her career, we all know how people start hating artists simply due to seeing too much of them. Not to mention lots of people were very "meh" on Chromatica and it's 2 current singles, including our fanbase. Promoting could've helped radio, but people are already sick of Rain On Me even with literally 0 promo. 2. Competition. COVID essentially ERASED all competition on the charts. Rihanna, Travis, Adele, etc all refrained from releasing music this year probably due to COVID. As a result, Chromatica (and Rain On Me) became big events, as Rain On Me was the first huge release with a high budget MV that we got all quarantine. 3. Timing. If COVID never happened, Blackpink would've stuck to their original plans and released How You Like That in March, meaning Sour Candy would have less buzz. Although we would've gotten a music video, the chances are high that we will still get one maybe next year. Almost everything we've asked for Gaga has delivered this era and I don't think she'd pass up on that opportunity, plus it will allow interscope to simultaneously promote both artists albums. 4. Extending the era. Gaga originally had the Chromatica Ball planned for this summer, and was planning on filming the gucci movie once the ball ended. This era would've literally ended after the Ball, with a final performance at the 2021 Grammy's. Yes, we may have lost other things as well... * the "extremely well-planned" rollout in reality would've probably been a bunch of talk shows and music shows in the same vein as Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia era. I doubt Bobby had anything extreme planned, so although we lost out on seeing Gaga on some shows, I don't think the era was completely "destroyed" because of it. * the Coachella set : I have many questions about this one, and whether or not it was an actual full SET or if it was just a surprise appearance at Tchami's set, but I've been to Coachella and there really isn't a way for them to squeeze an ENTIRE artist set in the schedule if it wasn't previously announced. But again, Gaga performing at Coachella would only be one of MANY headlines - you all know how much news worthy stuff happens every coachella. Regardless, I hope we find out more about this eventually, but we can also look on the brightside - Gaga is a contender to headline Coachella in 2021. * the iHeartRadio award show performance - I'm pretty sure she was supposed to perform Stupid Love. It sucks that she didn't get to perform but it is what it is. *Gaga probably wouldve showed up to the met gala... now this is one that I Can't get over, imagine the serve Overall, although COVID took a lot of things from us, it also helped Chromatica too. Don't feel too down that Chromatica was "ruined" by COVID because it really wasn't. It probably feels that way because we don't know what they had planned, but what's happened has happened. Hopefully, the promo continues into 2021, and we get Sour Candy and possibly a surprise set at next year's Coachella, which is very likely as Coachella is around the time of the Chromatica ball. I also hope that we do eventually get an epic rollout era again NEXT era, but who knows where Gaga plans to go in her career.

SLAG 7
Couple things tho. What is “overpromotion”? Even with Covid The Weeknd, Dua and Katy released. There was no guarantee that those other artists were gonna release this year. Sour Candy wasn’t a single so the buzz, though it was good, it didn’t mean much really. And the humanitarian part. Really? Did she do it for the points or because she’s a genuinely kind person? If anything it gave her the chance to get some rest which is always a positive! Doot 2
There are pro's and con's I suppose, so I'd agree that there was some positivity that came out of it. But we have no idea how much positivity would have came out of the full era so who knows.

The Weeknd and Dua were basically forced to release because they started their eras in January and already announced albums. If you look at the Coachella lineup, there are many artists that presumably were planning on releasing new music before their performances - Travis, Frank Ocean, Lil Nas X, and many others. Also Adele and Rihanna were both rumored but still, the COVID season has been very dry in terms of music. The humanitarian thing was from an era perspective, I didn’t mean it like that. I’m gonna edit that part out tbh

RRR 3,996
I think the singles this era would have had some more success and we as fans would have loved to see more performances and events, but I really do think that it will help her next album cycle because she is not being overexposed. Madame Goo Goo 3,733
I agree with some parts. I'll also add that May 29 was the perfect release date for the album. April 10 was way too early, I think the delay helped create more hype. I worry it would have underperformed* with that original release date. *Before y'all say it underperformed anyways, it did not. Underperformed slightly in comparison to A Star Is Born, but it is a HUGE improvement over ARTPOP and Joanne in terms of success. Lady Gaga doesn't owe us anything
