LOVE FOOLISH 202 Posted September 13, 2020 Share Posted September 13, 2020 From my understanding of this mess, Armys twisted Jennie’s words because she apparently discredited BTS...She didn’t even mention BTS BTSpoppers forgetting that PSY literally paved the way for kpop in the West, especially the US. 2nd gen kpop had a lot of influence on western expansion. Those who started this “paved the way” trend are a younger and impressionable crowd that firmly believe kpop revolves around BTS. The “rag to riches” storyline was arguably the smartest yet most toxic thing BigHit could’ve promoted I mean 2NE1, Bigbang, Wonder Girls, PSY, and SNSD have collaborated and performed at Western shows before BTS even debuted. They also helped kpop expand to other SEA countries. Other groups like Kara, Super Junior, Infinite, After School, and Shinee arguably establish the kpop brand. I swear this happens every year. Not to discredit their faves' achievement but Gangnam Style is a bigger hit than Dynamite even if Psy's song didn't reach number 1. Why? Well, almost all age group knew and bopped to the song (including Gentleman) . It's a viral hit and spammed everywhere. Meanwhile, Dynamite is probably only famous to mostly teenagers and fans who worked triple hard to make it chart high (with all those remixes, etc.) Who paved the way for KPOP to the western audience? 2NE1, Wonder Girls (that Nobody song), Super Junior, Big Bang, SNSD, EXO, Shinee, Psy (See?
