The only things that could receive nominations are music videos. It doesn't matter when the song is released as a single, it is getting nominated for the year that it came out. Exceptions are made, obviously (see Truth hurts), but they wouldn't make that exception for songs off a high profile album by a high profile artist. A remix/live performance could receive a nomination though. Lady Gaga doesn't owe us anything

You’re almost baffled on how an album or song could be nominated after two years of its release but really her first two albums and singles was literally that. The cut off dates for the Grammys is very flawed. Even Joanne got nominated and won after like three years. This isn’t uncommon.

The first round of voting starts September 30th. What do y'all think she submitted to be nominated this year? Just FYI... Submissions for 2021 closed on Aug. 3rd, NOT Aug. 31st. Aug. 3 is the submission DEADLINE. Aug. 31 is the END of the eligibility period. All eligible recordings (released between Sept. 1, 2019, and AUG. 31, 2020) must be submitted between June 22 and AUG. 3, 2020, regardless of public release date. In other words, you must submit your album for consideration by Aug. 3, even if it wouldn't be released until Aug. 31. (It's like applying to college during your senior year.) If you waited until Aug. 31, you'd miss the submission deadline (Aug. 3) for 2021. Not only that, your album would be INeligible for 2022 (must be released between Sept. 1, 2020 and Aug. 31, 2021). You blew it. Just kidding.

Even though the parent album was released from the previous cut off dates, if they released a track from the album as a single in a different eligibility period, it can be nominated for general fields or different categories. Teenage Dream for example. It was released August 24, 2010 and received AOTY and Pop Vocal album nominations for 2011 Grammys, then she released Firework on October 26, 2010 and it received ROTY and Pop Solo noms for 2012 Grammys. Another example TOP's Blurryface, it was released on May 17, 2015 and songs from the album should be eligible only on 2016 Grammys as what you are implying but they released Stressed Out on November 10, 2015 and it received ROTY and Pop Duo on 2017 Grammys. I doubt NARAS they gave exceptions on those examples I've mentioned.

Which means Chromatica will go head to head with Taylor. We're not winning that because Folklore is set to the biggest album of the year and also highly acclaimed. I'm hoping Gaga gets at least one for Pop Duo with ROM.
