911 and fun tonight are the deepest songs on chromatica

I absolutely agree. When you listen to them while analysing the lyrics you notice that these songs are so deep.

Fun Tonight actually hits me hard and makes me tear up because she's singing about her pain and the internal battle she goes through. She's telling herself to pull herself together but she can't find the energy. She's feeling something that she can't explain and goes on to say...

I'd do anything to numb the flames
I guess I'm just on fire these days

This could be a way to describe her fibromyalgia flare ups as well as being a metaphor for how she feels inside.

Wish I could be what I know I am
This moment's hijacked my plans

She knows we want Lady Gaga and she wants to be that person too but she struggles with being that person because of what she's physically and mentally going through.

Maybe it's time for us to say goodbye 'cause
I'm feeling the way that I'm feeling, I'm feeling with you
I'm not having fun tonight

I think this describes her internal battle with herself. I believe the "us" that she's referring to is Stefani and Gaga. The person she's talking to in the mirror represents her alter ego. She's not enjoying fame when she's feeling the pressure and the pain so she thinks about giving it all up and walking away. :bradley:

Then you have 911 which goes on to explain how she medicates herself and knows that paradise is in her hands because it's her responsibility to help herself.

And Replay explains how her traumatic memories keep coming back to mess with her head. It makes you realise that as long as the thoughts are on replay she's going to go through the same thing over and over again and it's literally torture for her.

1000 Doves is about her needing her loved ones to lift her up and make her feel worth something again. She can't fly and be herself if she doesn't have anybody to give her the nudge that she needs.

Chromatica is her best and most personal album yet. :tony: The contrast of the deep lyrics and the dance tunes are a work of genius and it's kind of like it's been engineered to represent all the stages of depression, because she's put it all out there how she thinks and feels in a honest and vulnerable way, but still nobody can truly understand it. People take it at face value and don't realise that it's so layered and complex because it's been hidden behind a happy facade.

That lyrics resonates with me because there was a literal moment during my relationship where I felt so degraded, trapped and unhappy and I literally looked in the mirror and asked myself wtf am I doing here? This song makes me cry :bradley:

I totally empathize with you.:kara:

I relate to the lyrics for a different reason.i constantly feel conflicted

fun tonight is literally Disney :triggered:

Once you know what the lyrics mean it's not a happy feel good song anymore. Does it not have that effect on you?

didn't say it's a happy song. it's sad, but it's still so disney. a sad disney song:billie:

edit: it doesn't really have any effect on me whatsoever, and I LOVE sad music of all kinds, even the ones that sound happy. love that juxtaposition. but this one is sadly a nono for me. i wanted to love it tho :(

My Name Isnt Alice

Alice is the most darkest imo

"Ah ah" (she's realizing her pain and problemss) "Oh oh" (she's now scared of what's going to happen) "set me free" (she wants to get out of this misery)

paradox

The lyrics yes are sad, somewhat dark, but production is the total opposite.
Meanwhile Replay's lyrics and also the production's pretty dark and/or twisted. I'd say Replay is the darkest imo :poot:

Just gonna look the other way at people saying Alice though :poot:

911 and Replay are the darkest songs on the album hands down period. end of discussion

Fun Tonight has very sad lyrics but the sound is among the 'brightest' she's ever done. Plastic Doll is a similar case
