Fanta 5,019
No shade but not only have I never personally heard Folklore I've never heard any of Taylor's recent songs playing anywhere (I'm in the UK). HOW?! I'm not pressed but I'm genuinely curious. I've always thought Taylor was a boring and unimaginative artist. What are the masses consuming? You could try to listen to folklore, it's an amazing album, and after hearing, you won't be able to say that she's unimaginative I don't know how to write in english

There’s still people who haven’t even heard Bad Romance, personally I’ve never even heard Blinding Lights or Shape Of You which were apparently massive, so it’s just weird
monstertoronto 10,235
Well Smile is number one on Canada’s iTunes! Maybe it will chart better here.

Gagz 2,579
I know Katy has fallen in popularity, but a #5 debut is crazy to me. Number one albums aren’t as hard to get as number 1 singles, so I really thought she would easily get the number one. I feel like her fan base alone would be enough to get her more than 50k. I know the statistics somewhat cause I went on Wikipedia to check out her numbers. Her worldwide album sales are around 70% US, 10% China and the rest everywhere else. She's extremely US-centric, which explains why people from other countries like you are baffled by her success. So I guess she's just America's sweetheart, but she definitely fails to connect with other countries as much (with some exceptions, like Australia for example, but the numbers there are negligible compared to the worldwide ones due to their relatively small population) That being said, it is so weird how much she's paid dust elsewhere when she's an absolute sales monster stateside
