Because it's sneaky tactics instead of relying on letting the album sell organically. And the whole point of charting is "who deserves." This album does not need a sixth week at the top, its only managed to do that anyway as there's been no other big releases all these weeks.

Gaga only did that kinda stiff with C2C in the debut week. That's fine but doing it 6 weeks later when you know there's other artists trying to make a good debut (and one of them is Katy, the singer you've supposed to have kissed and made up with is trying to make a comeback with her new album this week) is just not playing fair. She claims that she's made up with Katy and then pulls this trick on her debut week. It's just low.

and? is it YOUR money? 

first of all, the opening sentence made me laugh because I can feel the fumes through the computer screen (as per usual). and second, selling direct to consumer bundles is what everyone is doing. Is Gaga "money hungry" for selling Chromatica soap in a pandemic and restocking the ROM vinyls after her VMA performance? is Cardi B money hungry for releasing all those WAP alternative covers? or Katy? it's not Taylor's fault she not only has a dedicated fanbase that supports her enough to keep her multiple weeks at #1, but also enormous GP appeal that is interested in her music. if anything the others should take notes if they want to beat her. and accusing her of cheating because a random store received 90 signed copies

Imagine saying Smile deserves that #1 over Folklore in terms of quality

I wouldn't call it cheating, I'd say it's strategic and smart... every artist going is doing bundles - it's just that with Taylor, the demand is there, the same isn't true for Katy... (unfortunately)

And again, nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything. 
at least the signed CDs have an actual signature , not “z” or a check mark. 

I don’t understand the hate that people have here towards Taylor. It’s easy, if you don’t like her, don’t buy her music, don’t watch her videos, and ignore the threads that celebrate her successes
