If you go to the comments on those Twitter threads it gets super weird. Some Twitter users who are Black Americans say Jamaicans/other black people not from America are using this as a chance to defend white people (some people called Adele a "colonizer") and to attack Black Americans. I dont know man, I try to be as socially progressive as I can, but some of the Twitter users have too much free time on their hands.

That's not being socially progressive that's being paranoid. The days of slaveries are over for the rest of the world, maybe not for americans sadly who still think whites are colonizers/devils who are out to get them and they are not necessarily wrong, the killings of black people, lynching, shootings by racist cops still continues, and there are many other issues that are unfair to them...but not how we think outside of the USA. Jamaicans don't think about that anymore it's over

listen idk why yall are quoting me when i'm literally agreeing with the fact that Black americans needing to stop telling other countries how to feel about their culture. All I'm saying is the backlash is NOT suprising, considering the times we are in right now, especially in the US. That doesn't mean that I agree with or think the backlash is warranted, I'm just saying it is NOT suprising and Adele should not be surprised by it either.

Of course it's not surprising but you said "But wearing Bantu knots as a white woman is a little ignorant and insensitive." She was at an event about appreciating cultures so I disagree with that, nothing ignorant or insensitive about it. And if everything made any type of sense, eating Jamaican food should be banned too, not just hairstyle or attire

cultural appropriation is when something is looked down on when being expressed by minorities (usually a cultural practice or custom) yet edgy and fashion forward on white people.

it’s really not that difficult of a concept to grasp. People are just choosing to be arrogant

It goes too far. There are only a few examples of cultural appropriation from celebs, but now everything is apparently

There are people who take the BLM movement and run with it and attach it to baseless claims, it doesn’t mean it represents the entire movement as a whole by any means.
The OP instigated nothing but racial microgressions in his OP and throughout the thread.

its just americans getting offended over everything

I don’t think Americans just get offended over everything. The US is going through a pensive time to learn what is acceptable and what can be taken offensive to other people and cultures.

I however, am Black and loved this look on her.

Stop calling her Adele. She's Sarah Paulson. They obviously mixed up the names :enigma:

@CrownClown there's just something about a white "LMAO"ing a black person's opinion on this matter. care to elaborate on what's so funny?

Was just about to actually. Even you saying that you're black (in this case) is just too much. Get a grip. I'm all about equality, BLM, LGBTQ+ and so on.

But in this particular case, is just ridiculous.

She's is not approlriating anyone's cultures, she is celebrating it. I'd dare to say celebrating it.

Choose other battles to fight, this is just ridiculous.

Think the other way around, maybe she is promoting black culture?

Whatever, peace out
