And thats why she made a change which was absolutely necessary to save her from whats happening to Perry rn. She saved and revitalized her career with Cheek to Cheek, Sound of Music performance, ASIB, etc. She can pull impressive numbers because her persona isn’t just weird performances and outfits like before, she now shows her versatility. Katy didn’t change much at all and has continued to make what she does best, which results in her mediocre results. signing out

I don’t have any feelings (good or bad) about her as a person THIS. i'm not active on stan twitter but i remember seeing so much slander from katyclowns just a few months back. they were dragging rain on me & sour candy and discrediting gaga bc she can only get hits with collabs nowadays... insight 2,435
This underperformance shows a bigger issue with the artists and industry for the past 5-6 years - the unrealistic pressure and expectation put on artists to top their previous artistic efforts only perceived as possible by repeating or tweaking slightly the same success formula and an immense aversion to risk taking, as to not alienate fanbases, basically cattering to fans' expectations. This why i despise when artists befriend their fanbases, Gaga included, and create this illusory sense of friendship; it's plays to their detriment in the end. SlaeUrAnus 15,970
People comparing Gaga's fall with ARTPOP to Katy... No. Gaga has more to offer and changed it up when things needed to be changed e.g. reinvention, delving into another genre etc. I just don't get that with Katy. In my messy era. rasclautmangos 2,746
This is awful. If it weren't for the interest around her pregnancy, she probably wouldn't have even pulled those numbers. I feel kinda bad for her. And I thought little monsters were lazy..... She has a new baby, a husband, and a ton of money though, I'm sure she isn't stressed about sales right now. flyaway 15,350
What are you talking about? For such a mediocre album, it's doing fine. This should be a lesson so next time she can release some quality music.
RichAssPiss 4,929
The album is underwhelming. Although I think she was really onto something with Cry About It Later and Teary Eyes. I wish she had waited to release until she found a way to elevate the sound more. A lot of it sounds like B-side level stuff for her.

Dr Fudge 8,635
I think it was Madonna who once said that pop stars have an expiration date in the public eye. Once you reach your mid-30s the gp just discards you and moves on to the next hot thing. Which has been super apparent with the likes of Katy, Britney, Madge, Mariah, etc. Ageism, at it's finest. Women like Gaga and Beyoncé recognize the difficulty of the game and have played it very carefully, yet intelligently recently. It will only get more difficult for all of the pop girls as time goes by. Smile is a fine record. It just didn’t push boundaries or reinvent Katy to keep up with current trends. I think she’s fine with that too, considering the massive success she’s had in the past. It is what it is. Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years. They always compare Katy's downfall with ARTPOP which isn't the case at all. In my messy era.
