MonSwiftAnton 3,763
I LOVED Never Really Over. Still does, but this album is not it. It's not exciting lyrically or production wise to me. It's same same, not different.
Louie 7,158
I listened to the album and I'm not really "feeling" it. I feel like this album doesn't really connect well. I thought the album was going to be around circus theme with some circus medley or something related to circus music. When I see the album cover, I'm thinking "circus tent = circus theme music" but eh. She pretty much overrated Daises and Smiles A LOT and made the album not enjoyable to me at least. Smiles did feel like a circus related item, but all other songs, eh.

Her imperial grasp on music has faded, and she’s not going to reach her peak ever again. Her music isn’t what people want anymore and her numbers/success show that, despite her from time to time making decent music The thing is that, It's not even about her being a "dominant force" she cant even be a thing anymore on the charts. Her singles are either barely charting or not charting at all, for someone who used to have very big hits, this is absolutely tragic, humiliating. Her being overpushed truly ended up being tragic for her, but tbh she has not showed any sign of growing aswell so the public now just doesn't care about her anymore. Guest
I don't know why people are comparing Gaga to Katy, Gaga is incredibly smart. She made music nobody expected her to with C2C and Joanne, that made everybody see she wasn't just one thing and started to appreciate her older discography. Chromatica brings the new and old to blend in a a perfect way, Katy perry has been doing the same thing for the past 10+ years and has survived on just one sound and when she took time away from the industry there were so many pop girls doing a sound similar. I wouldn't write her off completely though, Madonna had a huge come back at 39 so you never know.

KillerMonster 2,361
I am genuinely shocked and sad at the same time. She was such a FORCE 5-10 years ago. She needs new management like ASAP. They’re doing no good for her. She really deserves more. She is so dedicated to her music. Don’t play with me, it just hurts me.
UnknownUser71 2,878
I really liked the album. It's a good pop album... BUT, it's not the album she needed to release at this moment and time, I understand why she did it (and she seems to be happy with herself, which is the most important thing), but I think she refuses to change, and everybody knows that's not good a good thing in pop music (either for women and men), at least if you want longevity. I'm not talking about BIG CHANGES, I'm talking about progress (Madonna did it and hundred of times, Gaga did the same thing, Mariah went from pop to R&B to hip hop, Beyonce went from basic R&B to deep cuts/great visuals... you name it, you know what I'm talking about). That being said, I'm enjoying this album and I'm happy for her.
socotra 3,310
While this is sad, it's not unexpected. - This kind of music is NOT popular anymore; rap/R&B is the name of the game, and early 2010s pop ain't it (which is why people on this site need to recognize that Chromatica's success is actually quite surprising – given where Gaga was at with her last pop album in 2013, SL debuting at #5 was actually pretty remarkable all things considered) - The music is not great. Cohesion has never been Katy's thing, but this album feels particularly messy/sloppily-thrown-together; it feels like after Witness, she doesn't really know where to take her career; this is also coming in a music climate that increasingly rewards cohesive albums (Future Nostalgia, Fine Line, Astroworld, Folklore, Chromatica, After Hours) - The rollout for this album made no sense – NRO was, for all intents and purposes, the lead single, released over a year ago; then a slew of singles of which only 2 eventually made the cut... again, seems to indicate Katy didn't quite have a vision for this, but rather a "Let's see what sticks" strategy - Nobody comments on this because Roar and Dark Horse were so massive, but her decline actually started at the tail-end of the Prism era. Birthday and TIHWD both underperformed, likely because of over-exposure (just like gagz in ARTPOP!), but instead of using that as an opportunity to try other projects (as Gaga did), Katy waited 4 years to release Witness... which, in retrospect, was not a bad album by any means. But after a 4 year gap, the GP had moved on, and Katy's new style turned a LOT of people off. I loved her almost as much as Gaga from 2008-2013, but this music just isn't it for me (or for many people, it seems). It's just a bit confusing – who is this music for? It really does feel aimed at a teen audience in a lot of ways, but the teens of 2020 aren't interested in Katy Perry – they're listening to DaBaby, Billie Eilish, Dua, The Weeknd, etc. she's gonna need to make a serious overhaul to her music if she wants to remain relevant, but i kinda sense she doesn't really care. Which, good on her! With 9 #1s, she really doesn't need to prove anything. She can go the Cyndi Lauper route and bask in her millions for the rest of her life. AMENiCURE 9,381
Genuinely, I expected Katy to do more trap-pop sound Ariana is doing now after the success Dark Horse got. Pure pop audience is dead in this age so these numbers are quite not a shock.

No. Gaga has more to offer and changed it up when things needed to be changed e.g. reinvention, delving into another genre etc. I just don't get that with Katy. Not only that, ARTPOP didn't flop nearly as hard as Witness, let alone Smile
