Didn't delve deeper into her discographies or interviews however, just watched whichever performances were on cable and whatever singles were on the radio (too busy being a moody teen that only listened to "ReAL mUsiC!!" ) About... four or five years ago, I was at my best friend's place and while we were making dinner, Bloody Mary started playing on her playlist. I loved it and asked her who sings it and she told me it was Gaga. I was infatuated at first listen, so I did what any normal person does: I went home that night, and listened through Born This Way and then ARTPOP--and those are the only two albums I listened to for three months straight. I felt so guilty for writing her off as mainstream for so long, and depriving myself of some of the most intense world-building and self-exploration she engages with in her music. I also might be the only person in this forum whose most played Gaga track was Chillin' for several years.
