Mister G 10,470
Didn’t stop people from still dragging her afterwards. I’ve seen a few comments from other channels that shared this mocking her hair for starters and accusing her of being a puppet to brainwash younger people. OMonster 14,720
Ridiculous. We don't need Billie Eilish weighing in on politics - or ANY celebrity for that matter. It's so frustrating and condescending. Why should multi-millionaires removed from reality, use their platforms to dictate what reality should or shouldn't be? It's cringe-inducing. The age of social media has made EVERYONE a political expert... and it's so farcical. And if the left think that celebrities going against Trump is the answer... they're so, so wrong. This kinda stuff is what put Trump into office, in the first place. Working people don't want to be told by rich kids that 'America is horrible' because of the man THEY voted for. It's ludicrous. You can't shame or guilt-trip people into believing you're / the left are 'right'. And here's the thing... What's the point of this? Billie Eilish supporters (pop fans, in general) don't need to be told to vote against Trump. It's like preaching to the choir. To win an election, you've gotta convince those AGAINST you that you're a better solution to who they voted for last time round - not alienate those people with the very same tactics they hate. subtext / fantasy

Franch Toast 26,971
I actually think this is a good thing. She's probably not going to persuade any Trump supporters to vote for Biden, but she might persuade people too apathetic to vote to actually get out and vote. The woman has a lot of enthusiastic fans. As I once read in a film review, "Don't underestimate the power of a teenage girl." I know a lot of younger voters are excited to go out and vote, but still, not enough young people vote. Neither of my nieces (yes, I'm old enough to have nieces of voting age because my eldest sibling is 11 1/2 years older than me) voted in the last election, even though they were both 18 or older. One of them had moved to a new town and couldn't be bothered to change her voting place in time, and she wasn't going to drive several hours back to her old town to vote, and it didn't occur to her to vote by mail. The other one was in college and had a similar issue – where she lived wasn't where she had to vote, and it was too much trouble for her to drive home to my sister's to vote or to request an absentee ballot. Of course, both were devastated when Trump won. Auntie Franchie gave them a proper tongue lashing and has ensured they both are able to vote this time, but I'm about to send them a reminder that maybe they want to request a ballot by mail and then drop it off early. Anyway, the point of my little digression is that these are the voters we need to reach (of all ages): the ones who are against Trump but feel it's too much trouble to request ballots by mail or to change their address or to physically go out and vote, etc. Billie might be able to reach some of them with her platform. It's doubtful she'll change the minds of any of the Trumpets, but she might motivate apathetic voters to get out and vote. She/Her/Hers

I can tell you’re not American because this is actually not the case. 99.9% of Republicans will never vote for a Democrat. The people Biden needs to get to vote for him are the people in swing states who voted for Obama AND Trump. These people are flip floppers. And he needs to get non-voters to raise voter turnout and potentially cancel out not being able to get these people to flip. Also, anyone can be politically active if they want to. Being a celebrity gives you a platform and if you want to use it to spread a political message, that is fine. It would take all day to sit here and list out all of the god-awful things he's done and stood for over the course of his career, but I'll cover the major points: -He built the carceral state that everyone in the US is out in the street protesting. He was the major galvanizing force behind why so many people are thrown in jail and are abused by police to the extent that they are. -He's an accused serial harasser and an accused rapist. -Massive supporter of basically every war the US has ever waged in the Middle East, and lies about it all the time. Directly responsible for the millions of people that we killed in the region. -He's spoken positively of politicians that he worked with back in the day that were advocates for keeping people segregated by race, and he gave a eulogy at an infamously bigoted segregationist's funeral. He also actively opposed desegregation efforts when he was in the Senate. -He was a part of an administration that put Mexican immigrant families and kids in cages on the border and deported more immigrants than any other in US history. -He's an infamous warmonger and is ruthlessly anti-Palestinian. -When he was a Senator, he was infamous for lobbying hard for insurance, finance and credit card companies and pushed a bill (that was ultimately passed) that made it impossible for people in the US to discharge their credit card debt and also pushed legislation that made it impossible for students to ever discharge their student loan debt. -His campaign advisory committee is full of oil lobbyists, right-wing economists and far-right foreign policy advisors. -He's actually worked to get Republicans elected in specific districts when the Democratic candidates were too progressive for his liking. And that was only what I could come up with off of the top of my head. As I've already said elsewhere multiple times (the snarky conservative Dem who quoted me above seems to have missed it), I'm likely voting for him anyway because Trump is worse, but he and his awful VP have to be held accountable for their actions every step of the way or they're just going to keep doing these things with impunity.
