She officially has 43 Million + streams for the Hot 100. She is heading for a Top 5 debut

Please be true

She deserves it so much (especially after NRO being snubbed by the GP like that :madge:)

Wow, this is actually really interesting.

This could completely change the music industry.

I mean... Facebook is THE biggest video platform in the world (bigger than YouTube), and, obviously, the 'virility' of videos is much stronger.

This will definitely become a thing, now.

And just because a video isn't smashing with young people on YT / Spotify, doesn't mean that older people on FB don't count. Of course they should count.

It's kind of like, until now, a large segment of the world has been ignored in streaming figures (those who use Facebook as their primary platform)... which is really interesting to think about.

Stupid Love, for example, would've probably gone #1 had it launched on FB.

It feels so strange isn’t it. Like if you keep up with her this sounds like a miracle

I think facebook's views are easier to fake. I mean, no shade to Katy Perry, but if generally her videos have low views on Youtube, I doubt that on facebook they can be so high. Maybe each page refresh is counted as a view...

You do realize that Facebook has more users than Youtube and those views are quite possible to pull off?

Gaga's Super Bowl is the most watched one on Facebook with 59 million views and 1 million likes for example :vegas:

Absolutely yes, but I mean... if those people aren't using youtube (and maybe neither spotify) what are they using to stream music? And another interesting question would be: who watched that video on facebook? The elders?

I download all the music that I listen to. Have been doing that for years and will continue to do so.

I don't use Youtube or Spotify for any other reason other than discovering new music. If I find something I like, I download it and I listen to it directly from my PC or phone. I don't like being dependent on internet to be able to listen to music. All of my friends do the same.

It's not they aren't using Spotify or YouTube, but more that they wouldn't specifically search for 'Katy Perry' on those platforms.

But, on Facebook, where videos will pop up on your feed and pick up more steam (because of an older user base), people are more likely to watch the video out of interest.

It won't just be older people boosting the views, though.

Young people will be watching it, too, thanks to how viral videos work on Facebook.

No they are counted and a lot more than YouTube videos too

kind of like how Amazon Music is counted more than Spotify and Apple Music because less people use it

That sounds so silly, why would other platforms have higher priority due to less users... :oprah: Did iTunes have less priority compared to smaller ones when counting digital sales? :yennefer:

I disagree. People are on FB all day. They aren't on YT all day. You can casually view a video that pops up on your feed in FB. Where as YouTube you have to actively search for it.
