Brecht 7
I'm starting to think that most #1s nowadays usually mean little to nothing and without the bundles most pop girls will no more get it. Rain On Me, Cardigan... Both #1s and both a flash on the pan. They'll probably chart low in the year-end charts.

Regardless I wish it was able to get that #10 now because the following week will be challenging with Drake's potential album bombs. Dua Lipa should in place of Chris Brown instead
dit 45,444
If Dua's team does not give the song a final push to get it to the top 10 it would be insane. She's still a "new-ish" artist and so getting as many top 10s as she can needs to be a priority for her label.

I love her music but I think the songs of hers that do well, generally do well cause they go viral on social platforms (tiktok for example). Also her team is very adamant on her finding a hit, they take the risk and push many singles to see what sticks, they did the same with her first record. Physical and Hallucinate did nothing and after the questionable remix of Levitating, I'm questioning whether that song will do well on the charts. Regardless, happy that BMH is resonating, we need more pop hits these days. i absolutely agree this is what her team is doing, but i don't think it's actually that uncommon, or even really a bad idea. it's the exact same strategy Billie used (bad guy was the 5th single released out of 7 over the course of almost 2 years); Roddy Ricch released The Box as the 4th single of 5; Drake's Scorpion had 7 singles of which 5 were released in rapid fire succession over 3 months. Travis Scott's scored 3 #1s in the last 2 years, and 2 of them were standalone. I think it's more a reflection of how pop music is beginning to reflect rap strategy. Ariana Grande had a super interesting quote about TUY where she said something to the effect of, "We always gotta do the announcement, then the single, then the promo, then the album announcement – and I'm like, I just wanna release music like these boys do." Unlike pop girls, rappers have almost always used this "Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" strategy. There's far less pressure for their singles to "flop" than there is with pop singers, and I think that's because they simply release more music. And with the way streaming and TikTok viral-ness are changing the game, I think it kinda makes sense to use this approach, especially when people are listening to entire albums far less and focusing much more on singles. I think the uber-planned big era with strategic intended-to-be-hits singles released several months apart is a thing of the past.
