not if we focus and rally behind someone else...

When/if Biden gets elected I expect him to step down a few years into his term. That means Kamala will be president after him. Not really up to us if he still has a term to finish after.

A lot of non-voters (who are disproportionately working class, POC, and queer) are completely disaffected from the political process because they have no connection to politics at all. The number one reason people give when asked why the don't vote is the fact that they don't like either party.

Factor in centuries of voter suppression, active attempts from both parties to quell dissent and criticism, etc. and you have a population that feels like there's absolutely no point in engaging with a political system that will screw them over no matter who is president.

i'm working class. in my experience it's just that people don't have the means to understand what's going on. politics can be complicated and the news never offers adequate explanation of the basic functioning of gov't. and as someone who comes from the working class, it's pretty clear to me that one side is doing a lot more to **** the working class over (particularly in the last decade or so) than the other.

Just out of curiosity, who did you expect Biden's running mate to be? Even if it wasn't Kamala, it was going to be someone similar to her.

Warren or Bass

i'm so conflicted on her. I want to like her so badly, but she waffles on so many issues and her record as a prosecutor is uneven at best.

at the same time, you gotta recognize that rising to this level as a black woman is unbelievably stifling. You HAVE to make compromises in an system constructed by white people for white people.

We've only ever had 6 black senators in the history of this country, and none of them were "progressive" by today's standards. Not Obama, not Booker, not Chisholm.

What's most telling about the American system is that a woman who checked off ALL the boxes of what Biden was looking for simply doesn't exist: a black woman who is progressive who has extensive government experience on the national stage. At some juncture, the weight of being both a woman and black in this country forces a compromise.

Her fierce protection of cops absolutely bothers me, but the way this country viewed crime when Kamala started her career was fundamentally different than it is today. Kamala didn't HAVE the luxury to fight the good fight like old white man Bernie did and continue being elected.

So on the one hand, her policy record and worldview is not what I was hoping for. I would have much rather had a progressive like Elizabeth Warren. But there's no denying Kamala is highly qualified, young, and might grow in the same way Obama did.

You mean from hope and change to nope and lame? That’s not something to be proud of luv x ❤️💕

Oh wow and Biden was such a popular and well loved candidate already. I’m surprised he would hurt his chances like this, it’s very unlike him

I would've preferred Warren over Kamala, but she was never going to get it. Biden would never pick a more progressive candidate, sadly.

Reminder that Harris full-on called Biden a racist and lumped him in with white supremacists in one of the debates and now... that just doesn't matter anymore, I guess?

The worst possible ticket, especially right now. A tough on crime President and Vice President at a time when people are out in the streets protesting the very system these two helped build and defend.

And conservative Dems wonder why the left is so critical of this god-forsaken party. :rip:

The way I reflectively got mad you bamboozled me into giving the NYT ad money but then I remembered Ive finally installed adblock on my phone gsggshsjehe pls
