At the time, there was not broad public support for her to be an activist AG. In reality, if she had taken major steps to change the system, someone would have filed an Inspectors General report and all of the steps she was taking would have been discovered. And since it's the not the role of an AG, she would have been removed. And maybe there were smaller things she could have done, but didn't, it's fair game to hold her to account, but she's listened and she's answered as best she can. So sure, it would have been brave, but it wouldn't have been successful and it's more unlikely she'd be where she is today. As for those treated unjustly in the system - there is so much blame to go around that it becomes impossible to truly blame any one person. They're mostly people who have been failed by every level of government - not just justice. "Most" Progressive does not mean she's actually "Progressive." It just means out of the less than 50 democrats she's among the least right wing of the bunch. Nancy Pelosi, Warren, Bernie, AOC, Rashida, Hillary and Kamala all claim to be progressives but there is a lot of ideological space between the small list I just gave you. The word progressive doesn't necessarily mean very much when everybody and their mother use it as a label to make them seem better than they are. She was the head of the system, but in that system, she does not get to be part of writing the laws, or deciding if the laws get followed or not. As for being a hypocrite. Sure. But does that mean if you've driven over the limit you can't give a speeding ticket? Or had driven drunk could give DUI's? It's a weak argument because it doesn't take into account what it would take for an AG to make moves that were both against law and the precedent.
