You asked why americans should trust her and I answered you. :awkney:

You didn't answer, you acknowledged she makes mistakes (which yes I agree is part of being human) and accused me of supporting Trump.

First off, I just want to remind people on this thread that according to the new terms of service of this site, spamming posts with "sad" or "LMAO" reactions just because you disagree with them can get you warning points.

Anyway, we're all old enough that we should be able to have respectful, civil discussions even if we're in disagreement with one another.

I already mentioned that I personally feel that Kamala is one of the worst choices he could have made, as do most of my friends with whom I've talked, but then, I'm not thrilled about Biden either (he was my last choice, except for maybe Bloomberg). But this is the duo we have, and I'm going to vote for them this round because the alternative is unthinkable, but I am going to hold them accountable every step of the way, and I am going to keep supporting more progressive candidates on a more local level. Also, I will fight hard to have them primaried in 2024 (I'm assuming Biden will step down and it will be Kamala), unless I am pleasantly surprised by what they do in office.

But this is me. I understand and respect that we're all going to have different reactions to Biden's pick even if we're anti-Trump. To those of you who are over the moon about this pick, I will allow you to be happy. At the same time, I also understand and respect why many people are upset over Kamala, especially people of color. I hope anti-Trumpers will still vote for them, but I'm not into vote-shaming and would rather engage in civil discussion, and I respect people's right to vote for whomever they want.

I have no illusions about a Biden-Harris presidency. I view it as triage and nothing more. Yet still, I am trying to find silver linings. So even though I'm not a fan, I can acknowledge the significance of having a BIPOC woman VP candidate on the ticket, and that if they win, she will be the highest-ranking Asian American to ever hold office in the US. I can acknowledge this while also taking into account that I'm not a fan of her track record. (And I can also pause and reflect that there are more progressive women who could've fit the bill and lament that Joe didn't pick them.)

To quote someone on Twitter: "Do I want to vote for a cop and an old ass white dude? Nah. However. TRUMP/PENCE GOTTA GET THE F*CK OUT SO YOU DAMN RIGHT I'M VOTING FOR BIDEN & HARRIS."

TOTAL AGREEMENT THAT TRUMP NEEDS TO GO. Never said I don't support that. Doesn't mean I have to be 100% enthused by Kamala as VP. But nobody is above criticism.

No b*tch we just want to get rid of Trump WHO WILL DO SO MUCH WORSE THAN BE MEAN TO PRISON INMATES lmaoooo.

We're talking about all dreamers being deported. We're talking about women losing their access to private healthcare decisions. We're talking about same-sex adoption being outlawed. We're talking about the ONE THOUSAND AMERICANS who die a day from coronavirus because of Trump's incompetence.

I haven’t disrespected you at all in this thread so I appreciate if you don’t disrespect me.

I don’t want Trump to win EITHER. However, the lack of voters, lack of research, and ignorance is a problem in America when it comes to voting.

It‘s really sad that Americans have had all the imagination beaten out of them. There is not just two choices. There are infinite choices, you just have to not be obsessed with conformity and compromise and actually make them.

The police chief of Seattle literally just resigned the other day. Why? Because people took to the streets and made it happen. Her salary was cut so she resigned. Voting in a rigged system didn‘t do that.

Hell, I don't even personally like Joe!

But that's irrelevant. That's totally not helpful to the situation we find ourselves in. It's completely COUNTERproductive to getting trump out of office for me to bash Biden/Harris.

Pull your head out of the sand. We have 2 months to kick the most dangerous president in modern history out. Head up eyes forward. It's time to rally behind these 2 because they're the ONLY chance we have.

One can both get Trump out of office and still bash Biden/Harris :laughga: Think how much criticism they'll get from Republicans (who will suddenly act like the epitome of class and dignity) one they're out of office. If Pres Biden / VP Harris can't bring us round now, then they have no chance of maintaining support beyond election and America will end up with a Rep Congress come 2022

Yay, let's drag another successful woman through the mud because she's made mistakes!

Even though she's apologized for all of those mistakes!

Even though we're only 2 months out from the most consequential election of our lives!

Even though Trump/Pence will be much worse in every single way!

Even though it's the least constructive thing we could be doing with our time right now!

Yayyyy we're such intellectuals! Someone should give y'all a prize. Lmao.

Some of you clearly lack critical thinking skills if you think you can't criticize candidates and still be against their opponents.

It's called standing for something. Try it sometime. Although that's difficult with no spine.

The reason Hillary lost is because Black people weren't excited to get out to vote for her AND because a lot of white men switched to Trump. Biden helps bring back the latter and Kamala helps bring back the former.

If only that last part was borne out in the data. Fact of the matter is Kamala Harris was incredibly weak with Black voters, Latino voters, and young voters during the primary. Biden is similarly weak with all of these groups. Go look at the primary results and see the breakdown to confirm all this.

Democrats absolutely need those groups to turn out if they have a chance of winning in November.

It remains to be seen whether Harris can bring out the Black vote like Democrats hope and will absolutely need to win. Based on past results, that isn't likely since she's rather weak among this group. Furthermore, Harris couldn't even win her home state of California in the primary.

Just because she's Black and mixed doesn't mean Black people will automatically get out the vote for her. You have to earn that like you do with any group.
