The way she is going to DOMINATE pence in the debates and he is going to go running home to his mother :ladyhaha: I'm glad she was chose, either her or warren was perfect. Also this means 99 percent chance Harris will be president in 2024

Kamala was really bad in the debates imo, I wouldn’t be so confident :saladga:

There probably won’t be debates since Pence isn’t allowed to be in the presence of any woman who isn’t his wife :ladyhaha:

Biden is going to win no matter who he picked. Ya'll should research Alan Lichtman and his 13 keys to the presidency. He was one of the few professors to predict Trump would 2016 based off his key system. It makes a lot of sense. Now he's predicting Biden wins

Hopefully if she becomes VP people won’t write off her Indian heritage. This is big for the US.

i'm so conflicted on her. I want to like her so badly, but she waffles on so many issues and her record as a prosecutor is uneven at best.

at the same time, you gotta recognize that rising to this level as a black woman is unbelievably stifling. You HAVE to make compromises in a system constructed by white people for white people.

We've only ever had 6 black senators in the history of this country, and none of them were "progressive" by today's standards. Not Obama, not Booker, not Chisholm.

What's most telling about the American system is that a woman who checked off ALL the boxes of what Biden was looking for simply doesn't exist: a black woman who is progressive who has extensive government experience on the national stage describes NOBODY. The closest is Kamala. And at some juncture, the weight of being both a woman and black in this country forces a compromise.

Her fierce protection of cops absolutely bothers me, but the way this country viewed crime when Kamala started her career was fundamentally different than it is today. At the time, pre-Bernie/Obama, the Democratic Party was very much still the party of "tough on crime" Clinton. Kamala didn't HAVE the luxury to fight the good fight like old white man Bernie did if she wanted to keep getting elected. Because imagine what Fox News and the like would say about her if she went against the powerful police unions? If she went against the Democratic mainstream? There's a reason progressive voices of color have only become prominent on the national stage in the last few years. The cost of visibility for black women (and black Americans in general) was being stuffed into a box that was suitable to white audiences.

So on the one hand, her policy record and worldview is not what I was hoping for. I would have much rather had a progressive like Elizabeth Warren. But there's no denying Kamala is highly qualified, young, and might grow in the same way Obama did, and we can't hold her record of 20 years ago to the standards of today. Not to mention the fact that black voters in the U.S. are typically MUCH  more moderate than college educated whites – a legacy of the black people having to be twice as good to get half as much.

tl;dr – Progressiveness is a luxury, and not everyone can afford to be as pure as Bernie has been for so many years.

I'm in Canada, but I've heard the VP spot was was between Kamala and  Susan Rice. What do you guys think about that? Was Susan more suitable? I don't have a lot of knowledge but I'd like to know more.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

A disaster for so many reasons. He really went with THIS in the middle of a national uprising against police brutality. The person who protected dirty cops her entire career.

Bonkers

Just goes to show, it's not over until it's over.  A lot were upset when she dropped out of the race, but worked out in the end. :vegas:
