It's a little obvious imo. Everything to the left of the GOP is probably registered as a Democrat or supporting the Democrat (even if it is begrudgingly). But there's A LOT of stuff to the left of the GOP Biden, Harris, Sanders, AOC, all their diverse ideologies belong to the same party? (I know Bernie's independent but he's had to rely on the Democratic party label for his presidential runs). The way I see it, the threat of a Republican presidency is fleeting. Texas is slowly flipping. There is zero chance a Republican is winning a presidential run when Democrats pick up California, New York, Texas, and likely Florida. Idk, I'm not a polysci guy and most people in this thread would know better than I do but to me, a Biden presidency looks like the perfect time for voters and politicians to reevaluate what they want. Its unfair that the centrists continue to bully and shame us for not voting for the candidate we opposed only to get no policy concessions as a result. Its an abusive relationship and it need not continue. The in fighting would cease and the centrists can do their thing. While I support Biden 100% (tho Bernie was my first choice) and I want nothing more than Trump out in November, I'm not going to ignore that Biden/Harris has some major flaws and everyone here shouldn't pretend otherwise. Given that, vote shaming never works and I think that's a terrible thing to. I think imho, we need more progressive democrats in local elections, the house, and senate before we even think about president. This is the same issue I have with third party voters. They're counting their chickens before they hatch. You can't take Libertarian/Green voters at a national level until they've proven themselves in local/lower chambers. My 2 cents. GagaSine 7,464
All these petty arguments while the world is on fire and we are hurtling towards total disaster, and people are focusing on ‘going back to normal’ instead of radical change which is the only thing that can save us... America will be reduced to ashes whether the president is a Democrat or a Republican. We need real and immense change on almost every level but it won’t happen because people are so complacent also bold of anyone to imply Biden is not a white supremacist
Whispering 18,865
Kamala was raised by a single mom. Her was a damn powerhouse, too. It is sad that she didn't live to see her daughter reach this place in history. Her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, was a breast-cancer scientist who had emigrated from Tamil Nadu, India in 1960 to pursue a doctorate in endocrinology at UC Berkeley. Kamala's sister is no slouch either: [Maya Harris] organized conferences around police-community relations and advocated for police reform, authoring Organized for Change: The Activist's Guide to Police Reform. Harris served as Executive Director of the Northern California American Civil Liberties Union. In her role as the head of the largest affiliate office of the ACLU, Harris directed and coordinated litigation, media relations, lobbying, and grassroots organizing work. "The Project's priorities are eliminating racial disparities in the criminal justice system and achieving educational equity in California public schools. Impressive family! somnambulist 1,526
I don't understand the philosophy of "I couldn't possibly support Biden/Kamala- we need a true progressive in the white house" - it.......is a losing battle if you never vote for anyone that shifts things in that direction in the first place. This election means more than just Kamala's record, the entire balance of our government is at stake. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is NOT going to last another 4 years, the supreme court is already stacked against progressives to begin with, how the hell are you going to change the government to be more progressive if you're voting for Trump AGAIN (not voting or voting for the green party is also a vote for him) , letting him control the Senate, AND full control of the supreme court? Like.....do you guys even know how the US runs? Set aside your issues this one election. Look- we SHOULD hold politicians accountable- Biden winning is NOT the finish line. If he wins, STILL protest for accountability and change. But you aren't getting S*** if Trump wins again. You think he's crazy now? Imagine how he will act when he doesn't have to campaign anymore. This is MAJOR.

And the plan she came up with has a 10 year transition plan and a role for private insurance. Either way you slice it, she doesnt support medicare for all. I also dont have to be grateful for anything. Im not going to thank the DNC and grovel to them even though they gave me the worst people as the ticket. HorusRa2 5,005
I'm still trying to understand all the cheering for someone who: 1. Wanted to criminalize truancy in California. 2. Supported the 3 strike law in California (locking people in jail for a very long time after a 3rd offense) 3. Doesn't support the legalization of sex work 4. Kept an innocent person in prison on a technicality of not completing the proper paperwork. This person is just not the person you want to give the kind of power that the Vice Presidency has and regardless of her identity, I don't see how you can look past these things.
