Lifeline 539 Posted July 26, 2020 Share Posted July 26, 2020 It’s clear her heart wasn’t in it when she made Chromatica (evident by her tweeting why she chose to become a popstar + Bloodpop having to push her to make music). I also think she is in her natural element with songs like Always Remember Us This Way which would’ve smashed as a single and has amazing recurrent streams in contrast to the Chromatica dance tracks. I know Joanne was her detour from dance pop but she never fully dipped her toe in it which is why critics hated it. Either you commit to a genre like Taylor did with Folklore or you don’t. I feel like Gaga needs to stop pandering to gays who end up bringing her down when they don’t like the outcome on sites like ATRL and Twitter. She needs to get away from pop and fully commit herself to making music she wants instead of thinking about things like charts or what her fans want. I mean, she just discovered other talents that probably not even her knew she was that good on and gave it chances to make different things. The album feels like it was made for her annoying fans who demanded pop and cool collabs. It’s neither authentic or bold. In fact she doesn’t even care about promoting it.She can come back to pop with a concept as great as ARTPOP in a few years. Rn she should focus on Rock or other genres imo.
