Serious concern about music nowadays

I assure you that my music listening couldn’t be farther from that list

We want her to succeed because we love her and because more success will mean even more opportunities for her to improve and spread her artistry, not because she does well in charts. Most of the music doing well in charts today is **** anyways.

I listen because I like the music. Melodrama was my most listened to album of 2017 for example.

I do, however, want my favorite artists to succeed and do well.

99% of the charts is filled with music that I absolutely despise so no I dont listen because its popular.

That’s ridiculous. People should listen to music they want to, not because it’s trendy and charts high.

For example, I HATE Old Town Road. That’s the longest-running #1 ever in the US. Last year, it was everywhere. I never streamed that bullsh*t ONCE. I have no interest in listening to songs that are popular because the music industry pushes them on us. Same goes for artists like Lizzo and Billie Eilish. I can’t pretend to like artists just because record labels are paying radio stations and streaming services to promote their music. Nearly everyone on this site may be talking about Folklore (hell, even the banner on the main page was updated to promote it), but that doesn’t mean I actually care to go and stream it because you guys are.

As a matter of fact, aside from successful mainstream artists like Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and Ariana Grande (who I stan), I mostly listen to a lot of pop, urban, and R&B music that’s not mainstream (or at least, not mainstream in the US). I also listen to artists that once had mainstream success but are now independent - so, therefore, they’re not as widespread.

People can follow trends all they want, but at the end of the day it’s nice to know you have your own individuality when it comes to music taste. I mean there’s definitely nothing wrong with liking popular music, lots of songs are amazing! Nonetheless, I take comfort in knowing that my music library is massive. I definitely feel like, among my friends and people I know, I listen to great music that you couldn’t find charting anywhere in the Hot 100. And I’m 100% okay with that!

I always stream the MPGs (especially Gaga) regardless of their chart performance.

But I also stream the top 20sh of BB100 chart and re-listen those that I find interesting.

I listen to Lady Gaga because I fell in love with her music and later, her personality and love. I don't even follow the charts or radio.

I won't listen to Taylor Swift because I dislike her greatly and she purely annoys me. I don't care how much acclaim she gets and charts she tops, I am greatly against her music and personality. She just irks me entirely. I can't even place it, some people are just that way with you.

Yes. Even though Joanne's lead single peaked at #15, that’s far from flop. Look at Katy Perry’s last singles, we never experienced that low numbers.

 

But do most fans don’t like Perfect Illusion because it didn’t do well on the charts? I love it, even more than Million Reasons
