Which only proves my point that she didn't need to be on top again for the second year in a row, but she just couldn't wait till next year, which would be in line with her usual album release schedule, because she knew she doesn't stand a chance against Adele's sales and her album would get more overlooked with all the big names coming next year. And I've already answered this question a few times, why do people keep asking me?

if no one else has a problem with it, maybe ask why you have a problem with it. why can’t a woman win 3 times in a row then? taylor can release when she wants. if she wants to “take the easy way out” who really cares. why should an artist purposely release when a major competitor is going to? are you serious?

Why would she wait? Your rationale makes no sense. The album and the music is about what we are going thru, isolation, stories and emotional journeys. If you have a problem with Taylor and her releases just leave the thread.

that's not why the album came out right now lol. She made an album during quarantine and wanted to give her fans something to enjoy during this hard time. Usually she would be on tour right now.

And also, Lana should also not release this year since she got a super acclaimed album in 2019. but you aren't gonna talk about that cuz lana didn't sell 870K albums first week 

Also rihanna released an album a year from 2009-2012 how TERRIBLE of her to release so much music.

what about all the men that release albums every year SHAME ON THEM. 

why don't we talk about them too.

Let's start a petition to limit artists to release an album every 2 years MAX because it's not fair. poor my fav won't be #1 because of taylor poor my fav.

You guys really think Taylor will stop herself from releasing music just to other people to have a chance a getting a AOTY award? She does what she wants with her career, if she wins something or not is not really her fault, but I don't know how some of you really believe she should not release something in consideration for others...

I don't think both albums are great and I certainly don't believe the one that's winning is. And you kinda have to be concerned about records and numbers when they can majorly affect how an artist is percieved. Fact is that being a mainstream artist is quite superficial and you will be judged by how many hits you have and how many records you have. If Taylor made the decision to release when she did being as concerned about all this stuff, you know she's doing it to purposefully get one over and swoop in to take all the records this year.

Because I like to see many different artists giving a chance. I'm sick of the same names dominating the charts year after year. I bring up the women's record because its always been hard for women to win awards over men, so it's a big deal that a woman was able to win the award more than once. But she wants to win it for a third time, she's said so herself. She's never satisfied. I just don't like greedy artists. And it's not about releasing when a major competitor is going to, it's purposely releasing when an artist who you know can't sell as much as you is releasing. You should be mindful if you're nearly always competing with the same names every time you release. It's like how Katy and Gaga tend to run into each others release years because their careers started at the same time. It gets a bit much when you're always competing against the same names, particularly when it's always the same one winning.

They just had an album from her last year, they didn't need another one less than a year later. Just because you made an album in quarantine doesn't mean you need to release it in quarantine. Just chill out till next year, knowing you have an album complete and ready to go.

Lana didn't have the sales, though, this is about sales, not critical acclaim. And yeah, I hated it when Rihanna released every year, she was insufferable, thank God she gave us a break from her. And I have no problem with men releasing albums but the reason why I make a point of separating them into male and female is because men tend to have better reviewed albums and sell more and women have to fend for scraps and aren't taken as seriously, so setting records and having the best reviewed/sold albums of the year matters more to them.
