Also, from what she's said, Bloodpop seemed to frequently try and "snap her out of it" while working on Chromatica but it's not a one-size-fits-all solution. People encouraging you only goes so far when you're struggling with mental health or other disorders. This is a harmful perspective to have. Lets not act like she doesnt treat her depression. Fans expect her to be a superhero on a pedestal that is not-human ALL the time. She is not defining herself by her depression. Being vocal about depression and pain doesn't mean that's her sole identity. This is a general issue on a larger, cultural level with famous people. How we perceive artists. As celebrities. As Gods. It is NOBODY'S right to tell HER how to be or how to feel. This is extremely insensitive, and quite frankly, problematic. I understand what you are attempting to get at but posting something like this is severely insensitive. And lastly, just for the record, her vulnerability has given strength to so many people. I admire her more these days than before when the facade was all we saw. I'm not saying she needs to be a superhero all the time, i am just saying ever since ARTPOP everything has always been "so i have been depressed and wrote some music" for every single era, it was like that with C2C, Joanne, then with ASIB, and then with Chromatica. Like girl, we understand, everyone has issues, why does it always have to be defined by that though, she is so much more than what is holding her back
EuphoricVibez 9
Tbh, Gaga should be allowed to speak about her mental health issues. It's what makes her human. Like the other have said on this thread, Gaga isn't a superhero. She's not a robot. She experiences pain, happiness, anger, joy, and so much more, and having depression, and anxiety is harder than you think. You can't just think "Oop, I'm happy today". It doesn't work like that. Also, Gaga has fibromyalgia, so she DOES have to watch what she's doing at times. We'll never know exactly what she's gone, and is still going through. Period. I'm not acting like that, I'm sure she does but getting treatment is a long, difficult process. I'm responding to OP's idea that someone going up to Gaga and "reminding" her of how successful she is will instill her with some sense of confidence or ability. She can be getting treatment and still struggling with depression and other disorders, they don't have to be mutually exclusive experiences and I never said they were. Do you expect her to literally go against what her nature is and cease writing about how she is feeling whenever the emotions happen to be negative? If she is depressed, then she is obviously going to create art that is born out of those types of feelings.

Ofcourse she doesn't have a normal life, she is LADY GAGA, one of the greatest artists of our time, the best living performer we have. It is like seeing freddie mercury sad about "human" problems when he is so much more than that. I just want her to find the confidence in herself that she seems to have lost after the ARTPOP era This kind of attitude just stinks to be honest. She is a human being first and foremost before being the ‘superhero’ Lady f-ing Gaga you describe and is allowed to have feelings, emotions, bad days, bouts of depression just like the rest of us. No one is perfect. One moment that stuck with me from the 5ft2 documentary was when she says she goes from people touching, clawing and talking at her all day to complete silence and loneliness. I can’t imagine how hard that is. She is likely at home enjoying not having a hectic schedule for once, not having to promote in the usual way and spending quality time with her family, friends and Michael. BlondeQueenOfGGD 25,454
Me and Gaga both wish our depression could be cured by finger snapping. We don’t want to be depressed, it’s not our fault.

I know that, i’ve been struggling with depression for some time now, and i got that this thread is really insensitive. But my point is that, even its a hard process, doesn’t mean that person who’s struggling is no able to do things or create an healthy way to live with the mental illness, as she is a living proof that’s completely possible. She has money and a support system that is able to give her mental stability. And the anxiety is the main reasons she has “apparently” lost the confidence she had before. I think this thread could’ve been wrote in a kinder way, people would understand better what this person is tryin to say.
JazzGa 14,620
Why can't you see that this is the kind of pressure that is likely MAKING Gaga hate being a pop artist? Just let her be a lump when she needs to be a lump, jeez. My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <

Galvon 1,868
I really get your point (I think), tho I agree with others here as well. It's frustrating that we can't do anything. Btw this tread will probably be closed soon, because it's too "negative" here. Just saying.
AVeryGagaHolyDick 25,313
Y'all (the ones who comment) are super dramatic as always........ The OP is a bit naive for sure, but not mean in any way. Calm down, please. I wish it would be that simple to get out of depression, but sadly it doesn't work like that. I'm sure her achievements help her one way or another, and she knows that she saved many lives with her music but we can't imagine the pressure that it is to be her... I hope it will get better over time, and I'm sure it will cause she's super strong, but she can't be super happy all the time
