Delulu Rogers 7,249
6 hours ago, Enzo said: Why is Joan*e the album that gets more hate out of Gaga's discography? A lot of ppl at the time didn’t like the toned down image, especially when it was already coming off of a jazz era and messy ARTPOP era. With all the original LG5 and redone hype ppl were quite upset and that tarnished the album’s reception among fans. It didn’t help that gaga wasted that era too and didn’t use it to its full potential.
RochestrMonstr 3,216
More than anything I think it has to do with Joanne’s haters being so vocal about it. You can usually find plenty of defense and love for Joanne when this topic is brought up, and this thread is no exception.
RRR 3,996
I think she released it because historically female artists success is that they are initially successful, flop, and then come back, and then flop again. She was initially successful, then she prepared for her flop by releasing Joanne, so that when it flopped she could just say it was because it was a strange country album. Then she released Chromatica, which tradition-wise would be her comeback and her smash return, but then coronavirus happened so who knows what is next
FFXIV WhiteMage 5,926
Diamond Heart and Millipede Raisins are the best in Joanne followed by DIY
DavieX 330
Because is a bad album and because she was trying too hard to be different and it came up looking cringy. ARTPOP even tho it was a flop it was a much better album IMO TRUMP 2020

NFRatwell 23,290
Let me ask y’all a question. When you hear songs like Music To My Eyes and Diggin My Grave vs. Million Reasons and Sinners Prayer... do y’all like, not hear the difference? Because I honestly feel like it’s less of people disliking non-dance pop and more people not liking the execution with Joanne. The tea is that, when you look behind the scenes of Joanne, it’s literally her (a pop ballad writing natural), Ronson (who’s extremely talented in many genres, but not really country), BloodPop (who specializes in electronic dance-pop), and the occasional appearance of Lindsay, who was the only hope for a genuine country influence on the album. Mix that together and you get exactly what you’d expect The only authentic sounding acoustic song on this album is coincidentally the one Gaga wrote on her own, and was never touched by BloodPop
HeavyMetalLover 16
I don’t dislike it, I have just struggled for a while to really connect with it. To be honest, I didn’t listen to it in full until recently. But I really appreciate what she did with Joanne, and there are some really gorgeous songs in there. I think the execution could have been somewhat cleaner and there is a disconnect between some songs. I really respect her for taking a chance and doing something different, because she wanted to. At the time of release, I just could not get into it. I tried but it just didn’t click and I kind of forgot about it. But I’m glad I am able to know it now. Honestly, it didn’t feel like an easy listening experience a lot of the time, which is really unusual because I always loved everything Gaga put out before that. i don't remember ARTPOP
Doot 2
I think the overall opinion will slowly evolve with time. Same thing happened with ARTPOP. The media and fans dragged that album, and now years later it's beloved by majority of her fanbase, and they've moved in to hating on Joanne. The cycle shall repeat methinks. Midnightrush891 727
She took her shot and missed. It’s not a bad album, and there are definitely some gems on it. However it’s not what people wanted.

dzox 552
its a good album but its just too different from her previous works. it's actually my least fav era because the music videos were boring (except john wayne which also not a single or being promoted)
